Base in Snow
I searched and read a few threads but couldnt find anything definitive on what people thought about the base in the winter.
With proper snow tires is the base drivable in the winter? Will the lack of traction control be a serious problem. I have driven a number of front wheel drive cars in the winter without traction and a number of rear wheel drive with traction in the winter but have never driven a non traction rear wheel in the winter. The one thing i noticed with the rear wheel with traction is that it was absolutely undrivable w/o the winter tires.
Will I be ok with winter tires on a base?

Don't drive the 350Z in winter. I've seen abunch of retards do it and they just end up breaking ****. (Bumpers, under carriage stuff) its not worth it. Just put it in storage and get something else to drive. For the price of winter tires you can get a decent Neon or something. In Edmonton here, the snow ruts were at least 8 inches high and they were packed with ice/sand/salt. Imagine that crap hitting your bumper at -20 celsius.
getting a winter beater is not really an option for me at the time. I likely wont drive it in severe weather. I just wanted to know if it was significantly worse than the models with traction.

You will be just fine if you get good winter tires and are an experienced driver. I've been fine for 3 years with my base. Don't let all of these pansies scare you. Yes, ground clearance is an issue but other cars only gain you a little more. If the streets up there stay unplowed for more than a day maybe reconsider but I love driving mine in the snow.

Plus the correct tires, all season or better yet snows.
My car is great in the snow!
Then again if u get 6 or more inches? most cars become useless!
i have an enthusist with snow tires and i like to take my tcs off in the snow because it boggs the car down. i also had this worry of snow + z, then i realized that most cars before the 90s were rwd and they managed.
I guess most of you are too young to realize that until about 25 years ago, almost all cars were front engine/rear drive, and almot none had posi-trac or LSD. We drove them year 'round, no matter wht the weather.
The Z would however, have some problems in DEEP snow, becasue of its limited ground clearance.
And don't be confused by my current location. I spent most of my life in NW Ohio.

Definately the BIGGEST thing to consider. How well do they clear your roads in the town that YOU live in. Don't worry about how the car handles, worry about the condition your city leaves the roads in. Very important.

I live 3 blocks for a main highway. After a storm the highway is cleared quickly. My street is a different story. Those 3 blocks can be treacherous in snow.
