Driving an RX8 after driving a Z... You'll realize how lame RX8s are

The only thing I like about RX8's is the paint. The console looks cheesy, and the back-door things detract from the overall design. Drove one before, wasn't my cup o tea.

I think the back door thing looks absolutely silly. Reminds me of those Saturns that have that same back door configuration.

Mike

If you want us to be waiting in great anticipation to see which one you end up buying...then you must be "Special." Well, are you?

yeah, there's way too many triangles. but overall, those are pretty weak. my friend just got a 40th anniversary one with paddle shifts. doesn't even compare in power against the Z.

That's because the auto RX-8's are only rated around 212 hp or so and the manuals are 230 some hp.

I like the RX-8 but it was too small for me. The RX cars are really in a league of their own because of their unique properties and can't really be compared.

And one thing you must be aware of is that the Renesis Rotary is very different from a normal piston engine. You must know how to treat it and what to do to keep it running. Basically, buy it new, not used. But because of that same engine, you will save on insurance.

Why?

1.3l. (Many do not understand how a Rotary works so they think the engine is tiny when it's not.)

4 doors.

Both are good cars in the end though. It just depends on what you want.

More room, better handling, better transmission, lower insurance vs. more power, better gas mileage, more conventional engine, higher insurance.

That's because it's trying to incorporate the rotary design into every facet of the car. It's actually pretty ingenious when you get down to the nitty gritty.

I test drove an RX-8, almost bought it, but told the salesman I had a prior arrangement to test drive a 350Z. He tried lowering the price and wanted to "talk it over" to try and get me to stay. He knew once I walked out, I would not be coming back.
