ugh im pretty stressed out right now, so my grammar and my story would be a little rough to understand, so bare with me.
at 9:30pm i parked near starbucks with my gf. When we decided to head out i wanted to use my new python alarm with remote start
when i use the remote start i liked how the parking lights turn on.
so anyways, no one was behind my car before i entered. when i checked my rear to see if its all clear, i reveresed and i felt resistance, like a crash* feeling. i looked back again and i noticed that i hit a double parked car!! The double parked car had no lights on, no hazards, and no one was in it! wtf. i had to wait for the woman driver for 30 minutes. this is my first accident, and i was really nervous and didnt know what to do in this situation.
it feels like it was their fault but at the same time it was mine since i was the one moving. The 350z really has bad blind spots. right now im currently talking to my insurance to see what's going to happen and who's really at fault.
well besides all that, my rear driver side bumper has a 2 feet scratch and the quarter panel has a 1 foot scratch. i have a Daytona Blue color and i was planning to repaint my hood, front bumper (because it has some scratches), my quarter panel, and my rear bumper. BUT now i am thinking of repainting my whole car to Pikes Peak White, and I'm curious if it's worth it? let me know what you guys think. hopefully i can get out of this stress and take pictures for you guys. Sorry for the long read.
CLIFFNOTES
-double parked car with lights and hazards NOT on
-backed up my fat *** on their rear
-the driver wasn't there and took 30 minutes for them to come back
-called insurance to see what's going to happen
-wanting to paint color, also curious if i should just repaint my whole car while I'm at it.

It sounds like you are saying that nothing was behind the car when you got into it. The question then is, how long were you "just setting" in the car with the g/f before you were finished er...ummm... I mean ready to leave?

That sucks dude. I hate to be the bearer (sp?) of bad news, but most likely your insurance company is going to find you at fault. Mostly because you hit a stationary object, regardless if some ******* put thier car there or not. We all make mistakes man, it happens...
PPW is an awesome color, just keep in mind that a color changing paint job will probably double (at the least) what you would spend on just having the car shot Blue again. If you got the money I say do it. If not, there's nothing wrong with your current color, you chose it at one point right?
Good Luck with the ins. company!

Let us know how things turn out.
I don't see how it's the other guys fault that you backed into him? Just because he had no hazards on?
Don't repaint your entire car. It'll probably end up turning out like crap unless you get a paint shop that is known to be excellent. If you wanted PPW, you should have gotten that color instead, why paint it from 1 stock color to another stock color. Are you 17?

I double park in open lots all the time. I suppose it's my fault when someone hits me when I'm not around because they didn't "see" me?
I would understand if it was a crowded lot at Disneyland and getting my car keyed as the result but good luck nonetheless I suppose?

Should be interesting and expensive having the body shop paint the engine bay, all of the door jambs, etc. to match. Not to mention loss of value when some researches the car and it says its supposed to be blue. Stick with Daytona Blue and buy a white Z IMO.
Way to pull a chick move by not looking behind when reversing. If this is any indication of your driving skills you will need further paint jobs in the near future as well i predict.

it sucks if I'm at fault (most likely), because they double parked right behind me and they had no lights or hazard lights on, and no one was in the car for roughly 30 minutes.

Ya the Z has some bad blind spots, i always double check every mirror in my Z when I pull out (especially since I have a roadster with the top up)... I've come close to hitting a few cars myself backing up...

If this was how the cars were lined up then I can see how you might of backed into it without seeing the car, knowing there was no car behind you when you got in you just looked over your shoulder when backing up and didn't see the nose of the car parked behind you... could happen to anyone.. if you hit anything stationary your always at fault
