UGH got in an ACCIDENT!!!

so you're parked normally in a spot.. you walk up to your car, totally clear behind you, get in, some guy pulls up real quick parks behind you and runs off, and you pull out without seeing their car?
i'm sorry, i don't mean to be antagonistic but i still don't get how you didn't notice someone pulling up and parking behind you.
i think his point is that they were double parked.. most people double park only if they have to run into a house or business and drop something off/pick something up, so they leave their hazards on.. i think???

you need to go into paint and drawl a diagrame to set the arguement to rest. I can almost picture whats happening. but i think other people think that the car parked in a parking spot but i'm pretty sure from what your saying that didn't park in a parking spot they just kinda parked off the crub or something right behind you. clear up your statement.

-doesn't matter (re: no lights) -you're at fault
-don't stress over it though, that's why you have insurance, they will take care of the whole situation
-no you can not change the paint color of your car by just "repainting" it a different color -too much work involved & insurance would not cover it
It could be worst.. here was my Z after my accident

I think the general consensus is that if you hit a stationary object or a parked car in a parking lot, you are at fault. With that said, parking lot accidents are not so cut and dry because standard road rules do not apply in parking lots, or at least they don't where I live. Parking lots are not public roads and are privately owned, so if you run a stop sign in a parking lot, the police can't write you a ticket for it. If he hit the car in the parking lot, I can not say with 100% certainty that he will be required to pay for the other car's damage unless he admits to his insurance or the other car owner it was his fault. Since the other car was not in a designated parking spot it could end up as a dual fault case. Obviously if all this happened on road, the OP would be at fault no questions.
