Default What are YOU doing on your ETA?!

School start Aug 26th, and I go to school M-Th, and my Z is due to arrive Wed the 4th of September. I don't really want to miss school. I still live at home, so I'm thinking of taking the day off, going to my brothers house, which is about 2 min down the road, waiting on the call from Nissan, or just head up to Nissan around 9:00 am and waiting... patiently.

How many people are SERIOUS about actually going to their dealership on the day that their Z is supposed to arrive and just waiting, no matter how many min. or hours it might be? Moreover, does anyone have any clue as to what time of the day the trucks deliver cars to their respective dealerships?

I will be at the dealership as soon as they inform me the car is on-site. I will be supervising the PDI and filling out paperwork so I can drive it off the lot as soon as I can.

I'm curious to know - how you go to school and afford a Z at the same time? I just graduated from college, and am working full time. Even so, I can just barely afford the car. I couldn't have envisioned buying a car in college...
Just curious...

Funny thing is he didn't say he attended college. Wouldn't it be a hoot if he meant high school??

Dead-F***ing serious about being there that day. The dealership is 300 miles away, so as soon as I get the call that it has arrived, I'm officially off work.

Oh, my Z may get used in a photo shoot for a magazine promotion...details once confirmed.

That's what I'm doing. I'm going to be a senior in high school and I'm working during school. Since I'm a minor, I can only work 30 hours, that means I'm working Mon, Wed, Fri. nights, Saturday, and Sunday. A lot of working but worth it for the Z in my opinion. Ill be making just enough to pay for the car. I guess its harder for someone in college to do it since they are in school and have to pay for other stuff. On the other hand, I'm 17, and can't get a job that pays well, while college students are 18 and over and have better opportunities like internships and such.

you kids are so un-ambitious..

i reached $50K / yr while in college full time. (graduated 2 yrs ago). i went through 3 brand new cars while in college (Jetta VR6, Impreza RS (custom turbo'd), IS300)...

and before you ask... my mom drives an accord coupe v6, and my dad drives a Ranger. I made more than either alone.

it is easier to afford a Z after college... well, i also make 3X that amount now, and i am only 25

but back on topic...

since my dealer is 1000mi away, i am planning on flying out there 4 days before my delivery date. i will be vacationing most of the time, to pass time... my dealer is giving me a loaner the whole time if my car comes early, great... if it comes later.. well, thats just extending my vacation. the real joy is driving it back!!!

mwaller,

Here is how I do it. Oh and BTW, I am in college, this is my last year, thank GOD.

I live with my parents still. Believe me once I'm out of college I will be getting my own place. My tuition paid for by the state b/c of certain disabilities I have. I own er... owned a MODDED Honda Accord Coupe EX V6 (just sold it 3 days ago) that I sold and profited $4,500 from. I have been saving for this car since January, every check I get I put 20% into a saving account. Believe me, I am going to have to work my *** off to be able to afford this car and still be able to take my girl out, but like ICYBLUE1203 was saying, it's well worth it. Being a freelance Web Designer has it's advantages and disadvantages, I get to work from home, and the pay is decient, but if work slows down, it really sucks. I hope I have clarified my situation.

May I ask what your occupation is? Or are there other means besides a regular job?

ps. the coolest thing about making mad money is the paychecks actually get larger part-way through the year after they stop pulling Social security tax out!

MAN! Things have definitely changed since I was in HS! Most considered themselves extremely lucky to have ANY kind of car, much less ANY new one. A Z in HS! I must really be old!

Man, i'm 23, and I find this hard to imagine. I thought I was really pushing things when I worked all summer during HS to buy an expensive watch. And that was $1300....
Good for those who have the will and the means...
I feel extremely lucky to afford one at my age... and just barely.

A 350Z in HS is kinda pushing it, although i just graduated from HS and in the student parking lot we had an IS300, Corvette, 3 RSX(2 auto and my manual), A6, Impreza 2.5RS, all new. Plus my fav my friend has a '89 Porsche 944turbo. We also had older cars, and less impressive new cars like civics etc.

I'm a Senior in High School right now. While my 5-series is technically "mine" I consider it to only be "on loan" from my parents. I have saved a lot from jobs and will be able to seriously look at financing a Z on my own next summer. It will be a financial stretch if I do it, but I have a feeling it would be worth it. I will have to wait until I drive one

BTW, Icyblue... if you want a decent paying job, try working at a nice restaraunt. I worked at a seafood restaraunt this summer and after tips it came out to like $16/hour. Pretty good money if you ask me!

CCIE PUNK! ARGH! They make such good frickin' money - nothing like exclusivity to bring a fat check home... personally, I could never go throug those tests. The CCIE they put you through the ringer and then chew you up and spit you out - I heard that test is H-A-R-D. MCSE is easy IMHO. CCIE - now that's a path to making some serious doe. It also is going to depend on where you live and work also of course.

Good luck on your CCIE. Me personally... I'll stick with sales :P.

Thanks, I do need to try some other way of making money. California has strict minor labor laws making everything difficult. Because of this, all of the decent paying jobs are for people over 18 since companies do not want "kids" working for them. I guess I have to stick with $7 an hour till I turn 18 in 3 1/2 months.

I don't know if Maryland has similar laws or not. My employer didn't mention any.

I want to work at a car dealership next summer... most require you to be 18. Maybe I should work at a Nissan dealer DISCOUNT!!
