stick a 2x4 block under your pedal.

Also, I used to market a product called Bitron. One could relate this to most Amsoil dealers across the nation. I wasnt/never into the network marketing part, but I'll never turn down a sale...I just wanted to get it cheaper than retail costs and have the tax write-off's for owning a business...yadda yadda yadda...

Anyway...I personally use their products in my vehciles - ZX6R, G35 and, Titan - and have really great results. It's a 3-part system where you treat the engine, fuel, transmission and, rear diff (in our case). You add the engine treatment at every 3rd oil change; you use the fuel treatment at the pump station at an ounce:gallon ratio and; the transmission and diff treatment is usually a one time deal untill you decide to flush them.

The biggest testament for me is the MPG I have gained with my Titan. On paper, the Titan gets 15 city, and 17 hwy, my truck's dash said (prior to Bitron) I averaged 14.2 MPG. So I introduced Bitron to the truck and, now I average 18.6 MPG. To me, that's pretty impressive.

Turning off your engine at a long light will help on new cars. Or should, imo. A carburettor engine would be more practical to keep it running, but fuel injected is more efficient when you turn it on.

On highways I tail semi's at a reasonable distance, i tested it out with a 06 jetta, and it went from 26.5 to 29 mpg at 65 mph. My z seems to do better, but not sure oh how much. Plus, a safe semi driver is a good thing to follow.

Another thing, make sure your rear diff, trans and oil are clean. Less friction=more mpg.

I've discovered something interesting to some, others will say "duh".

Cruising at 30mph in 6th gear will yield lower mpg ratings than cruising at 30mph in 4th gear.

Have you ever downshifted when you pass a Prius or hybrid car so they could hear you hurting the environment?

I've noticed that as well...

I will cruise around no lower than 2.5 rpms and I get 2-4mpg improvement over being in 6th gear at 1500rpm.

Why in the world would you get a sports car if you're so worried about gas mileage?

Just get a commuter for a second vehicle. It's that simple.

I did the same thing for 1 tank of gas... Shifted at 3k, never went above 65 on the freeway.

At the end, I got an extra 50 miles before my gas light turned on.

LoL... Funny you say that, I just realized the same thing the other day, it turned out to be a very significant increase in MPG for me...

I believe it's because when the car is in 6th gear at such a low speed, it puts more of a load on the engine. In 4th gear, the engine works less to stay at the same speed.

You're kidding me right?

Even though I'm not, let's say I'm obsessed and OCD about gas mileage and ultimately saving money. Why the hell would I spend $1000 on a beater and more money on insurance, gas, and maintenance for it just for a 4 mpg improvement over the 350? If I was really fixated on saving money through gas mileage, doing that would be completely idiotic.

Folks, this was just a one week experiment. I already get decent mileage but I just wanted to see how much more I could squeeze out by being conservative and I will still drive for fun so calm down everyone.

Good job, but I doubt any of us will be able to stay that disciplined. With a sports car, gas mileage is second to fun factor. I wouldn't have purchased a sports car if I didn't fully understand the consequences. I drive my Z hard all the time, as I'm sure a lot of us do. Of course, I'm also getting hit with these gas prices. I pay $3.91 a gallon and it adds up nicely. This is why I'm searching for a commuter car to use as my primary transportation.

[QUOTE=GalvatronType_R]You're kidding me right?

I understand why and what u were doing but people are saying all this because it is what it is and theres no point in complaining.

Its like having a Ferrari and complaining about the insurance

or having a hummer and complaining about gas

there is a very simple solution.

if you cant afford the gas or you dont like spending what you do on gas then sell your Z and get a boring car.

If you want to drive a nice sports car, paying crazy $$$ for gas comes with the territory just like the fact that you cant fit huge things in our cars. It is what is.

Again, I'm not complaining, this is an EXPERIMENT. I already get decent mpg and I'm just curious how much more I can squeeze out if I went to extreme measures for a week.
