i have automatic and trust me when i was stock i raced an HR z (07) he was manual and i won by a car. now i blow him in a sense thats not funny. in miami theirs heavy traffic, also i wanted my car to last me a lil longer without having to replace clutches. also i have intentions of nitrous wich i think the auto would be better to spray on since you wont run the risk of skipping a gear on some high **** while on spray. all that matters.

****, you better trade yours ASAP. You might mess up your MT tranny sooner than you think since you autocross your Z.

Crap we all need to have a big group unbunching of our panties... seriously...

The Z's auto is quick, but manual is a lot more fun and offers more precise control of what the engine is doing. So really whatever works better for you, you should get.

What do you really want the car for and what do you plan to do with it?

I drive with tiptronic on the track regularly with many friends who have manual gearboxes.

We are all about the intermediate level, based on the track records, but I find I'm slightly faster because the tiptronic affords me more focus on braking points, turning at the right apex, resulting in a slightly quicker time.

If however, you used the car to drift, there is no doubt a 6mt would be better.

Really depends on your needs.

Decision is up to you though, you can ask 1,000 people and you still will not be able to chose. Drive a manual, Drive a 5AT. Then chose. If you do not know "how" to drive a manual. I suggest you think how you plan on learning. If you have no route, go with 5AT regardless. To me, having a manual while not knowing all the sounds and motions that are needed to drive a manual will increase your chances with hurting your car with every shift.

As for all the threads about this. I think a sticky needs to be made one day. If you all think why these newcommers make such threads is due to curiousity on which is faster for drag racing. Majority just want to be fast on the street which is most of the time, drags. If a thread was made showing 5AT VS 6MT. And there were around 10-20 races of them showing the winner in each race. There would be no more threads such as this one. A person could look at the timmings and winners of each race and count up who won the most. Then they would probably pick the Winning transmission or speculate.

Something for the mods or others to think about.

If you don't know how to drive a manual and are trying to deceide between the 6MT and 5AT on the Z... I say go learn to drive a manual in an old beater car for a week until you get the hang of it... Then if you can try a 5AT Z and try a 6MT Z...

Wow. Awesome thread.......

Whatever it is you decide to take, make sure you enjoy it and never take any comments seriously, ESPECIALLY on the net. Needless to say, a 350z site is probably a bad place to go for advice on whether to get auto/manual. Understand what you need and look for and decide from there. GL
