Default Registering a RHD show car

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum. I tried searching but no answer. I wanted to get a RHD from Japan as a show car but I couldn't find any information on the registration process. Could someone shed some light on this for me? I'm in Illinois.

I live in Japan and have a RHD Z. (http://www.yokohamaz.net) From what I have heard, it is rather difficult to get a Z from here to the US. There are a lot of modifications that need to be done for safety, etc.

Try searching on google for companies that will do this for you. DOT is a real ***** these days with a RHD car. You will be better off using a company that does this professionally.

YokohamaZ, what is that rivet type thing right above the reflector? I see it on non-US Zs.

On the front bumper? (http://www.yokohamaz.net/main.php/v/..._0135.JPG.html) Those are cameras used to see left and right at stop signs on tight intersections. The roads are tight here in Japan. I just hit a button on my console and it displays a split view on the navigation screen. I have a rear camera too that kicks on automatically when you put the car in reverse.

What if you don't intend to register the car in the US? How difficult/safe is it to send a shipper your money and pray you see the car you paid for show up??

Oh getting the car over here is quite easy because of loopholes. Techically if you ship over a non rolling chassis which would be the body minus the wheels, engine and trans DOT and customs labels it as parts. After that ship over your wheels, engine and trans and re-assemble. The reason why the non rolling chassis makes it through as parts is because it's not drivable and not considered a complete car with intent on driving. The key here is no INTENT on driving. That step can be done for sure but I haven't found a way that I would be able to register it. I've heard of people registering RDH cars as kit cars but I was trying to get info on how to register it as a show car but can't find anything.
