I picked up my 2003 auto a few months ago and haven't looked back since. I do a lot of highway miles but also quite a bit of driving on hills and in traffic, and in that respect the auto has been a welcome convenience.

I love my auto Z. It's my daily driver here in Chicago. The auto Z may have about 5% more drivetrain loss but the lighting quick shifts pretty much make up for it. There's always tiptronic whenever you want more control over which gear you want to be in. Ha, even the new 09 GT-R supercar is an automatic with paddle shifters which is the same principal as our tiptronic shifter. Oh I forgot it has 480 HP so it's ok being an automatic.

The Z's auto is very, very good. I love my 6MT, but I wouldn't complain about a 5AT -- after all, it's a 350Z!

lol. If only I was that.
But on a different note.
Test drove the car today and the car looks and feels like a new car.
I never tested a used car as good as the car I test drove today. I was not sure if that's with all of the 350z but man, even as an Auto, I feel some hops when I gas it, haha.
I told her that I am interested and will be purchasing the car.
She is basically going to be checking with her bank on how to go about getting the title since she has a lean on the car with some bank.
If all goes well I should be taking this bad boy home by Weds.
And if I wanted to drive a stick shift I can always take out my good ol' 94 Integra LS, hhaa.

I drive an automatic..... the only people that make negative comments on the subject are questioning their own sexuality.

I personally like MT better for sports cars, but the AT is actually really nice. The AT is also stronger/more reliable than the trouble ridden MTs.

i have driven sticks all my life until i got my auto 350z...

not bad at all..but i think it has a time delay or some sort of lagging.. it just wouldnt take off as i wanted it to.. it would take two or three seconds for the auto to engage the gears( i am not really expert on this subject, but i am assuming it has some time delay)

probly somebody can explain better.....

Dude...

I'm usually one to say "Get manual all the way" But I'm from California myself (bay area) and I know first hand about those hills. Its like a friggen rollercoaster going up those things. Get the automatic. I've never been in one but I hear good things about them.

If anything, you can always get the paddle shifter upgrade (aftermarket) if you ever want that manual feel

Haha, so you know what I am talking about right? It sucks when you find one parking spot on a crazy steep hill and have to pass it up because you don't want to risk getting a new ding on the car, lol.

Paddle shifter upgrade? cool. I actually like the little manual mode on the auto Z that I checked out today.

I do have my beater 94 LS MT still so if I really miss driving a stick, I'll take that out just for kicks.

Thanks for the input.

At first I wanted to flame you for wanting an Auto Z, but then again I live in the SF area too and driving a stick in this hilly, traffic-ridden city sure can be a PITA. It doesn't help that I recently had a new performance clutch put in and my transmission is notchy as hell now.

The Auto shift **** is disgustingly ugly. I had the oppertunity to drive the auto and it definitely was not as pleasurable as driving a 6mt. I would say since you picked a 'sporty' car you might want to get the 'sporty' tranmission choice. I have no problem driving auto in luxury cars, but thats because I'm in a relaxed mode. Driving a 350z generally brings out the ******* in me

If you don't pick up a car because the shift **** is "ugly." You need to admit to yourself that you like gay sex and get it over with.

Nothing against gay people.

Don't get me wrong. I love driving a stick shift but taking trips to downtown a few times a week and it gets old pretty fast. Don't even get me started on the crazy hills around there, haha.
Is there something to look out for on the 03 Auto 350z models?
I had an auto '03, just tire feathering, squeaks and rattles, and window grease.

The 6 speed doesn't have that problem.

See if you can swap 06+ auto shift ****... Good luck with your Z. You will love it no matter what transmission you get it in.

wait wait no.... you got it backwards. If he DOES pick up the car with the auto transmission, he likes gay sex, both watching and participating in it.
