I generally like to go to the dealership for all of my checkups, oil changes, and the rest because they have a record of the service, and when the time comes to sell the car, it may give the new buyer a better piece of mind.

My question is.... If I bring my car to a different Nissan Dealer than I have been in the past (Not fond of the service) will all of my records transfer?

For example when a Nissan dealer puts that I had an oil change into there computer, does it just stay with that dealer or does it go to some Nissan data storage, that can be accessed by other dealers?

I have all of the slips to say what has been done in my glove compartment, but I was just curious, so if I went to another dealer they could see what the first dealership did for services and such.

Excellent question. I assume that Nissan Corp tracks recall compliance. I got a notice from Nissan monthly telling me to complete the fuel hose recall. After having the work done the notices ended.

As for service bulletins, repairs and routine maintenance? Don't know.

 

I believe records and information on any warranty work done is available to all dealers. Local service (oil changes, non-warranty work) would only be available at the dealership that performed it.
