Default T Tops in 2004

I met a 350Z owner recently that said the '04 Coupe would have T Tops. Anybody heard anything about this?

not happening for '04. doubt it will happen on any 350. how many new cars do you see anymore with t-tops available? i think that was mostly a 70's-mid90's thing.

Yeah, I had a guy tell me the other day he was getting a TT 04 model, too. Just don't believe anything you hear unless you can find the info directly from Nissan.

Where do people come up with this??? I was approached by a guy asking me if my "Z" was the Turbocharged model.. I said they don't make one.. He went on and on that every 2004 model will be Turbocharged and blow the doors of the Turbo Porsche and Corvette.. What are these people smoking??

This was brought up early on in this forum and it was determined that the new design of the Z tended to be too flexible, hence the rather substantial tortion bar in the rear. A T-top or Targa Top would introduce a huge amount of flexibility back into the Z. unfortunately, I don't see it ever happening. Too bad on the targa too, I think that would look awesome!

Here's an old photoshop job I did about a year ago.

btw, my sportster wasn't that far off either...

No T-Tops, they figure for those that want the wind in their hair- they should spring for the ROADSTER.

Thanks...I figured as much with the ROADSTER; however a Targa or T-Top configuration sounds appealing as well, regardless of what's "in."

porsche brought the targa back, but yeah never thought about it, I think its the only car with such a thing right now.

itd likely be very costly as well(specially when your trying to make the parts as universal as possible...) remember how expensive the 300ZX was and the supra. the 300ZX was available without Ttops right? I dont remember. if so, what was the price tag for that option?

i met a guy recently and he said he just placed an order for 04 track , with leather for $30,000 out the door , because he didnt get the $ 8000 navi , and took a " less trunk space " option...
my dealer never told me about $8000 navi or less trunk space option ! also i though the track didnt come with leather ?

perhaps the dealer was offering runflat tires and then theyd remove the spare? thatd be a pretty good option actually if someone made like a contoured floor for the spare tire well to keep it nice looking.

SC430, Z3(Z4 too maybe) they come with runflats because there really isnt room for a spare.

That new liquid cooled blinker fluid is pricey on the 04's. Has anyone got that option on the 04's? A friend of my cousin was told by her friends, girlfriends' next door neighbor who heard it through her friends, friend who owns a Nissan dealer in Co.

Please post for anyone having this option, as you will be the first on this forum with that option. Would love to see pics, heard it was as expensive as the HID's though.

I must be honest, I think that a removable top portion (some might call it targa) looks great on the Z. The structural stiffness issue might eliminate it as a possibility, but car companies can make almost any car in any format as stiff as the coupe version if there's a market for it. (i.e. - all convertibles, Porsche targa with nearly a full glass roof, corvette with removable roof portion) I had a picture of a lemans Z on my desktop someone had photochopped and it looked uncannily like orange supra from The F & The F. Maybe I'm subconsciously recalling how nice Magnum P.I.'s Ferrari 308 looked with its removable top, but I like the look on the Z. I might not buy one, but I sure as hell like the look.

How would T-Tops be anymore flexible than the Roadster? Remember they made a convertible and a T-Top version of the Z32 so I dont think its completely out of the question. Maybe in a few years they will release one. No one really knows and I shake my finger at someone who says they do.

Basically, most mods hurt resale but cutting your roof off like that will really limit the resale on your Z. Are you ready to live with it and not sale it because it will devalue the car. At least with something like a SC you can unbolt it. It is your choice, just make sure you are doing it considering all the issues....
