Default It sort of started....

First, it started late. After several bids (up to $35K), they retracted the auction and relisted it.

I attempted to place a bid. You have to go through a pre-approval process. I have completed that process and I'm waiting for the green light....watch for me in the bid history. Cause I will be history real soon....

I tried to go through the pre-approval process, but you have to give phone contacts for accounts where you have money equal to your maximum bid. I think that rather than make history and track down all those phone numbers, I will just live vicariously through PointFive.

To make this Z really stand out, I wish they did this Track model with factory installed burnt orange leather and Bose stereo system that comes in Touring model.

due to errors in the listing. You think after 2 weeks they could have figured out if anything was wrong!

I was the high bidder on the 1st auction before it was cancelled at $35,100. Too bad they cancelled my bid before they ended the auction! :-)

Remember, this is for charity. The Segway HTs sell for $8000 and they went for over $100,000 each in their charity auctions. I have a feeling this will go for closer to $200,000 than $100,000.

We'll know in 9 days

That was the first one. The new one is still going as far as I can tell.

Some rich person must have sent an email to Nissan that they would pay $$300,000 over MSRP for car if they can have it RIGHT NOW!. "Dealership" reflexes kicked in and nissan_z decided to sell the car right under everyone who had been waiting during the "pre-auction" period. Must have been the shortage of chips.

I think it's damn cool the first Z off the line is the top-line track model with all the goodies. Nice job, Nissan. Though they could have inserted an orange leather interior in this one as added bid incentive. . .
