Default $1400 for paint damage!

So I got rear ended last sunday, not real bad but enough to chip the paint and leave scratches all over the back of my car. I got an estimate today for $1400 of that $38 was for parts and the rest for paint and labor. I am not paying for it, the other insurance company is but this seems a bit steep. anyone else have some insight into this?

You just gained a true insight as to why auto insurance premiums are so high.

My car's been vandalized twice.

My rates went up a little bit after the second time because my Z was listed as a "high-risk".

the quote says 12hrs of body labor at $46/hr and then 10.1hrs of paint labor. It seems to me you could buy a new rear bumper for the $552 they would do on body labor.

^^But then you would have to blend it with paint to make it match the rest of the car, . Same boat.

its that high because they know its an insurance claim. That is the going rate for someone with a limitless checkbook. I'm sure if you were attempting to pay cash it would be less, over and above they are milking it because the insurance company is going to pay it as long as it is competitive with other quotes.

you really just admit to planning to commit insurance fraud on a public forum? Intelligent. No one here could be a member of the industry or save that, law enforcement.

Don’t complain when your renewal increases. In fact, you know what, hand over the keys. You can’t handle this toy.

Agree. Sounds dear to me. What about a new bumper plus paint?

if you were not at fault or you are paying your insurance company a premium to perform the work, you are legally entitled for a new replacement oem part, or a part which is identical in fit and finish to the oem part. you should not let these people scam you by bondo-ing up your bumper, ESPECIALLY if it was someone elses fault.
