I had a problem with my gas tank once, it kept messing up the pump and saying that it was full when it had no gas (unclicking the trigger) , so I went to another gas station and it did the same thing. I kept pulling the pump trigger until I got about a 1/4 tank and drove for a day, then it went back to normal. It was weird and inconvenient. Would anyone know the cause of thie, it happened like 7 months ago and my car has been fine ever since.

your gas tanks are crazy.. how in the world do you get 20 gallons in? I can only fill it up to 16-17 max. even when the light is up and the needle is pointing empty...

The actual gauge only displays about 16 gallons worth. When you are on E,
you have another 3~4 gallons left. I drove around for several days with my
"Distance to empty" showing -- and never ran out.

Hmm. Ive been complaining about my Z's gas milage since the first week I bought it. My read out says I get 11.5mpg....I do notice that when I go on out of state trips it creeps up to 13mpg. Even after 3 engine changes due to oil consumption problems I still get crappy gas milage. If I didnt like this car so much Id dump it. Depending on the final looks of the 370z that might still happen.

oh and I've never put in more then 15 gallons on a complete tank up from empty.
I read the manual that said 20gallons but it must be all reserve /shrug
x2

Even with spirited driving, occasionally getting on it, I average 18-19 mix of city/highway. Stricly highway I get 26+

I know when I had my Celica the gas mileage was terrible if I left my CAI filter get real dirty. That used to make a huge difference in mpg for me. Do you have a CAI?

Two things come to mind - since your gas gauge appears to be broken, get it fixed first. Then make sure you are truly filling the tank all the way. My '03 has problems at some pumps getting the tank all the way full. Between those two things, you really have NO idea what kind of mileage you are getting. If you only got 200 miles before you totally ran out, and you really started with a full tank of 20 gallons, that would mean 10 MPG. And unless your car is running like crap, that is almost impossible - worst I ever got was 12 at a track day.

I filled up 16 gallons yesterday, my low fuel light was on for almost 100 miles. My MPG desplay said 20.1 MPG and i had 323 miles on that tank. Well at least i know the computer for MPG works fine.

I do kinda wonder if my car is actually full , when i go fill it up. Do i actually have that extra 4 to 5 gallons in the tank

I get 14-15 in 100% city driving, with 100-200 yards between stoplights and traffic. 20 in suburban driving, and 24-26 freeway, depending on if I'm pointed up or downhill.

Every Z has a 20.2 gallon fuel tank. In my '08 the gauge reflects around 17 of said 20 gallons. The rest is reserve.

For those getting really really low MPGs, you are resetting the MPG display? Right?

I consistently got horrid MPG with my Z. Maybe it was my driving, but maybe it's the big V6 under the hood of a sports car..

I think I'm getting pretty good mpg. my meter's currently at 25.3mpg over the last 360 miles so far, probably 80% highway. I think i can hit 26.x if I stop the occasional gunning on the freeway entrances.

It's just all how you drive and city/hw.

And i only can fill up 15-16gal when the light turns on as well
