I monitor my MPG almost regularly and get an average of a little over 24 MPG; I often baby my Z and have never done anything truly crazy.

Try changing your driving habits...or getting some light weight mods

Thanks for all the replys guys.

Well to answer some questions, my tire pressure is usually around 45. I drive around the streets and never go above 15mpg. I also can't really reach anything over 200 miles before I start to get nervous (this after spending $55 to 60 bucks, so the gas is going in).

I usually top of around high 13 to 14 gallons.

I usally drive it like I stole it, but these past 3 or 4 months i've been driving around like a freaking grandmother and coasting whenever possible and it still doesn't put me over 15. I feel like i'm driving a freaking truch or an RX8 or something.

Anyway, i'm going to make an appt with Nissan, and get the gas light issue fixed and also try and find out why after only about 225 do I need to spend another 55 to 65 bucks.

The only thing that I can think of, is maybe my 1 inch spacer is doing something. Anyone else with a spacer having this kind of issue?

Wait, your tires are inflated to 45PSI? I'm no tire expert or anything, but doesn't that seem really high? I think mine are at 32 and that is higher than what is recommended by Nissan (I think the sticker says 28PSI).

I still think it has to do with your driving...
what RPMs do you shift?

try your own MPG test.
1. Reset your tripA meter to 0.0 miles when you fill up. Also reset the MPG in your car. You can use your trip/timer feature instead of your tripA meter.
2. Drive somewhere where its strictly highway and keep your upshifts @ 2-5k. Absolutely no crazy downshifts to fly past cars. Basically drive like a granny who has all the time in the world.
3. Go to a gas station after your highway driving and record how many gallons you filled.
4. Divide your tripA meter miles by the number of gallons you filled to get your MPG. Compare that to one in your car.

Report back with your results by Monday...

...OR BAN!

i get a little over 20mpg in "suburban" driving, but i have had it higher if i drive like a woman. otherwise, i use my right foot.

on the highway, i get almost 30mpg. not bad for a 300+hp sports car.

Only 8 months? Take your time speedy.. Give it another 8 months and see if the problem goes away on it's own.

What does this have to do with this thread? Not to mention, you didn't see the post about this? There was a list of about 40 or 50+ stations scattered throughout NJ/PA (maybe elsewhere) that were doing this. Old news.

They have 20 gallon tanks, they just set it up that way to make it harder for dumbasses to run out of gas and get stranded somewhere.

I've been doing all this, my mpg has become an obsession for me.

Ok, question to all, so the question is, how many total miles are you guys getting when you completely fill up the tank? When you guys top out and have 14 to 15 gallons, are you guys close to 300 miles driven before the little yellow light go's on?

i made it from centennial, colorado, to hays, kansas (345 miles) easily on one tank, and that was running around 82-85 the entire way. i could've gone farther, but wasn't sure about the stations between hays and salina.

I then drove about 4 miles and filled up, topping the tank off with 17.02 gallons.

When I get down to E again I am going to throw my gas can in the back and get even braver and try to verify that it really is a 20 gallon tank.

everyone's MPG issues sound related to driving style. If you are sucking down gas and not turbo (or even if you have one!), you aren't driving efficiently, your wheels are to heavy, or your body kit is creating too much drag.

I'd like to sit in the car with some of you to see what you are doing!!! haha

also, check your o2 sensors or replace them and maybe get dynoed to get your a/f ratio and MAYBE compression test....thats about all you can do

I fill up when it gets to quarter tank, and by that point DTE tells me 50-100 miles roughly.

Everytime I fill up, I reset mine and I get 400 miltes DTE +/-15.

for me its pretty accurate as I do fill the car up after 350+ miles of use before the low fuel light comes on.

I average about 23-24mpg. I drive 8-9 hours total before my next fill-up.

Nice, hey, keep track of your miles to see how far you can travel driving around town and on the freeway. It would be intersting to have an idea of how much you can travel from a completely full tank to literally running out of gas.

Just make sure you're not taking a corner 'cause you'll loose power-steering when you run out of gas and the engine dies. Oh wait, you're in TX, there are no corners. J/K.

Per fillup, I typically get 430 miles per 17 gallons give or take. I have no engine/exhaust mods (yet). Except for K&N drop filter. And, currently have OEM wheels/tires.
