DWI driver has to put "shame" signs on car
9¬?´9¯S?s feature on a local TV station today about a 24 year old guy who was convicted of DWI here in Houston. The judge is known for unusual punishments...so the DWI driver now has to drive around with signs on his car saying that he was convicted of drunk driving. Kept him out of jail and apparently it was his idea (and the judge agreed to it) but he has to do this for a year!
Oh and his car...a 350Z!
Here is a link to the article (not sure how long this will be up):

Here's another picture of the guy's car with a large sign on his hood. Man - think I would have had to seriously consider the year in jail rather than mess up my Z with all those signs.

The article says that he paid to have the signs made...probably decent quality.
To stay out of jail, he probably won't mind a repaint or touch up job, if necessary, when he can finally take the signs off.
Wonder if this guy frequents the boards here? Would be interesting to hear about his experiences driving around town with these signs on his Z.
Sure glad I live close enough to walk to one of my favorite pubs - don't have to get in my Z and risk having to go through the "signage" punishment...as well as more serious things!

I feel for the car though, they should just confiscate that and sell it to somebody who deserves it. Man that sticker messes up the lines. They should just tattoo something like that to his forehead.
LOOSER!

Yep...you're right. It was Judge Poe. But I think the Z driver scammed him a bit. If it was only a DWI (well, maybe only isn't the right word) instead of a DWI on top of a theft probation, I might agree with the sign idea. But this guy is a convicted thief! Judge Poe missed the boat here, I think - should have made him do the boot camp time (for the DWI offense on top of being on probation) AND then drive around with the signs.
Poe has handed down some great and creative sentences here in Houston over the years - just think this driver took advantage of Poe's quirkeness in this case.

The guy got pulled over in his Z when he was DWI. The funny thing is the HPD officer who pulled him over only wanted to check out his Z. I thought I had bad luck.
