EVO!!! or STI

The new evos are really nice. Much more luxurious than the old ones... But I guess thats not saying much.

I'm with Lento. Get and evo. Another option is a turbo VW. My friend has a 04 GLI that is nasty. Just a thought.

2009 Acura TL SH-AWD

2009 Audi A4 turbo Quattro.. or A6 if you want more space and don't care about ugly styling.

2009 BMW 528i (pricier)

2009 Infiniti G37 S Sedan

Lexus IS350

Subaru Legacy 2.5GT

These are your non-crap options (i.e. not domestic or euro trash like VW) that offer RWD or AWD and fit the "hauls more than two asses" bill, that I would consider.

And as much as I empathize with your... concern... of owning FWD, I only dwell on it as much as I do, because I can only afford one car right now. If I could have a RWD sports car *and* have a DD, this would not be my primary concern.

If you want something more affordable than those options, and are okay with FWD, there are bunch of great options.

When i turn my Z into weekend duty the replacement will be another Z or something economical like a Mazda 3. Maybe a crossover Suv and sell my truck too.

you've got to get a beater, not another nice somewhat expensive car. find yourself like something used like a honda accord or civic, maybe even a toyo camry or corolla. cheap to maintain and good on gas while the Z hibernates. Since i live in NJ i needed something good for the snow, and my mazda pick up truck wasnt cutting it anymore. B2000 series. a customer was selling his 91 nissan pathfinder fully loaded stick for 4g's with only 80 k on it. it was a steal. thats my new beater and i can take it anywhere with no worries.

Default depends what you're looking for...

If you want practical transportation, then the Mazda3 suggestion is a good one. One of my cars is an 06 Mazda3 Sedan and it a great little car.

However, if you have dog and a suburban lifestyle, you may want to consider going with something like an Outback. Lots of room, decent gas mileage, AWD, and high resale value.

i just don't get why you would buy an expensive daily driver and not a beater. I see everyone telling you to buy new expensive DD's and not a beater. I mean your driving the Z now pretty much as a DD so on bad weather days just buy a cheap economical beater and use the Z on good days. Would be better to do that then waste mad $ on a car.
