Ok, I got my used 2004 Japan spec delivered to me today. I could not locate the VIN number......searched where it should be, and it wasn't there......searched every nook and cranny and still couldn't find it. Our papers in Malaysia also only state the chassis number and year of manufacture (as declared by the used car importer here). I basically bought and paid for a 2004, but I was eager to check the year of manufacture from the car. Even checked the tag on the door sill.

Last resort, I checked the seat-belt tag and it said Takada Corporation, blah blah blah....year of Mfg. 2005!!

Did the used car importer just sell me a 2005 and declared it a 2004 maybe for some tax relief purposes? Or is the seatbelt tag misleading?

Is there any other way at all to establish the actual year of manufacture from the chassis number? Its HZ33-300435 and I found it on the car (matches the import papers)

its a hardwired phone charger or ipod cord, i can't really tell.

 

I have one in my car, but not same place. I connect my Ipod to it.

 

Looks Like A Cell Phone Charger. Seat Belt Could Of Been Replaced, Make Sure The Car Doesn't Have A Damage, Could Of Been Wrecked

do JPN cars have VIN plates or do they use something different?

 

pop the hood and look for a dataplate near the back of the engine bay. it should be 10 digits long. as for your year, the only other place would be the placard on the inside of the drivers side door. at least that is where mine is located. seat belt will not tell you anything at all (except who made the belt) since the Z is made at Oppama plant or with the newer Z's, made at Togichi

VIN placement is standard throughout the world. If you are knowledgeable about VIN placement, and cannot find it, them it has been intentionally removed.

 

Is it faster than an 08?

 

I found the silver dataplate you mentioned but it states only the chassis number, the transmission number, the manufacture plant, the trim type. That's it.

I beg to differ about the seat-belt tag. See attached pic. Notice the Year of Mfg. stamped on it. I supposedly bought a 2004 (declared) car but with seat-belts manufactured in 2005 !

This isn't looking too good, 1st belts state different year, and when crashed what needs to be replaced, the BELTS, and now this vin being removed.......................IDK

 

Looks like you have the Touring model like me, although I cant help you finding the VIN on your car I could offer some help with the nav.

I have nav on mine too and use to make "back up" copies of nav software a couple of years ago. I could hook you up with an English copy if you like although I don't see how its going to help much considering you live outside the US. At least you would be able to read the maintenance features

Also I purchased a complete dash professionally painted gloss black from a member who had nav and he included the button panel in English, I don't need a spare so I could hook you up with that panel cheap if your interested. Its as simple as popping off the old one unplugging a small connector then snapping in the new one.

I am "somewhat knowledgeable" about VIN placement....it should be on the dashboard, viewed from the top from the outside near the windscreen, correct? I checked both sides, driver and passenger side and found none.
