Default M3 owner saying Hi

Hi guys great site.

My names Lee im 29 and from the UK, I currently own this beast
its an O6 M3 with all the toys i truly loves these machines having owned 5 of them, but now feels its time for a change and am reluctant to have that much money tied up in a car. I own a bodyshop and get to see lots of nice cars on a daily basis but the one that has stood out recently was the 350z i was genuily amazed by it, fantastic car and great value.

I have some pretty simple questions really [ive tried to search] i would very much appreciate your time in giving me some of your knowledge and experience..

1- [sorry] but what is the best year for them and more importantly why?

2-is there any differences in the UK GT compared to Jap GT versions [apart from the obvoius stuff like speedo readings etc]

3- as im also considering an import [japan] i was wondering how i would go about getting the sat nav and tv converted?

4-is sat nav standard on the UK versions, if not is it just a cubby hole where the screen would be.

5- also what is the claimed BHP on the various year models.

Thanks very much in advance guys

Kind Regards

Lee

Hi Lee,

This should be able to answer some of your questions:

https://my350z.com/forum/2003-2008-n...questions.html

However, I'm not sure you're going to get a lot of info on the Euro model questions as the majority of the posters here are American.

Based off MY opinion...

1) 2007+ because they have the new HR engine which has dual air intakes and have more HP than the previous models.

2) Not that I know of....

3) All depends if you want to watch movies or not. The stock Navi cannot watch movies so you will have to do some work to get it to play movies. Even then it cannot play certain formats of movies. Try the pioneer Avic D3.

4) Yes it is a cubby hole if you do not get the navi.

5) You can probably search that up in this forum... but here are the numbers...
03-05 (non-revup) - 287 bhp, 274 ft lb
06 and 05 (track and 35th Anniversary edition) (revup) - 300 bhp, 260 ft lb
07-08 (HR, including Nismo) - 306 bhp, 268 ft lb

Overall.... Love the car. I have a 05 Enthu. And always a fun to drive. Hope to see you in the community soon!

1) Best year are the 07+. Simple reason is the VQ35HR motor. Its very stout motor, great torque but it really shines up top. Its basically an evolution of the original DE motor found in 03-06 cars. The fastest stock times on an 07 are in the 13.1s. That's pretty similar to your car i believe. The 07s are supposedly have better sound insulation. Most likely going to be abused a little less since they are newer but you never really know. The motor is rated at 306 hp SAE (something along the lines of 313 to 327 bhp)which is more than the older ones even with the newer tougher standard, so basically it is quiet a bit quicker than the older cars. People claim that the 07+ are heavier than the older models but thats just not true. All 350Zs weigh very close to each other, no matter what year they were made. The verts are a bit heavier as you may have guessed.

2) i have no clue

3) no clue again

4) i'm sure you can call your local nissan dealership and find out

5) 03-05 = 280 BHP
06 = 300 bhp
07 = 313-327 bhp (depending on your region. Its 306 SAE here in the states, 313 or so BHP in UK i believe and 327 in the middle east (the brochure said it according to a ME member here.)

Best model years
04.5-05
07+

There is a lot of debate about the DE vs HR, so to squash that right away. DE is quicker off the line (more tq) HR comes back for the win (more HP)

lol i wouldn't go that far. I dont know how much 8 lbs ft of torque will move 3100 lbs of car quicker off the line. I do know the 30+ hp will.

I had a 2005 M3. Awesome car. Miss it sometimes! I love the steering feel in it. Even though it's heavier than the 350z. it feels more precise.

k torque gets things moving, HP keeps things moving. I'm not a DE fanboy. Do some research.

and btw, the hp difference is 19, not 30+
and the torque difference is 6 ft lbs, not 8

lol if you only knew the difference between SAE and BHP. And yes 6 ft lbs isn't going to do squat.

You will be terribly disappointed going from a M3 to a 350Z. Hell may as well get yourself a Ford.

I wouldn't say that. They have similar power. They're just different in too many different ways to be a straight A and B comparison.
