The horn isn't too hard to reach and clip the wires. Perhaps the thieves did this in case the horn would sound with the alarm.

wow that sucks to see this happen, hopefully you already reported this...

as for the horn, you should take it to the dealer

this probably would not have happened if the horn have worked.

I've got a a great deal on ...2 pairs of sunglasses (chanel and burberry), blue tooth ear piece, t61 laptop, coach laptop bag, Garmin Nuvi 650.

anyone interested?

Nah im kidding man. that does suck. Is there surveillance camera's in the garage? Im guessing they had snuck in when someone opened up to get out and they didn't pay attention.

Great idea is to put direct power to the horn's and see if they crapped out. it's possible it was going off (alarm) and they cut the horn wires if you didn't check that. I dont see why it shouldn't work. I do know for the alarm though if u hold the 2 buttons down u can disengage the beep sound. But then the interior horn should work when pressing the steering wheel.

that sucks. I hate it when ppl say "That's what you get for leaving stuff in your car"....pretty shitty thing to say. BUT, this should be a lesson to you/her/others....that things in sight are magnets to thieves. If they see one thing, then they'll take the time to bash your windows to see if you have more.

again sucks that it happened. I hope I never catch someone jacking with one of my cars. The consequences will not be pretty. Justice, Texas style will fall upon them.

Someone gets their locked car broken into and and all you can do is call them "dumb" and that they were "asking for it"?

No wonder our society is going down the toilet in the hurry.

To the OP, sorry about the break-in. I think the idea of running a wire direct to the horn is the best suggestion so far.

Yes.. Maybe dumb is a bit harsh..

Irresponsible would be more accurate.

Society is going down hill because of people who aren't aware of their surroundings and or create opportunities for criminals.

Like people who leave their keys in or have car running while they run into the store.

People who leave their kids unattended.

And people who leave valuables unsecured.

What if that stolen laptop was a firearm instead? Plain a simple if the OP etc.. followed some simple routines. We wouldn't even be posting about this would we?

Yes you can, just hold down the Lock and Unlock buttons at the same time for about 3-5 seconds. The lights will flash indicating that the mode has been changed.

Wow, i just helped someone...what a concept.

Hey man thanks! That's actually what i was looking for (the location of the actual horn). I'll check that out.

Private ZnMax, did i say the car was parked outside? No, but you assumed it. Did i ask whether or not it was a good idea to leave valuables in the car? No, but you felt compelled to tell me so. When i have a question about life i'll be sure to send you a PM, but as far as technical questions go - i'll ask other members on here. I'm glad you had to resort to telling me to STHU, great way to show class and speak to another Z enthusiast. I also appreciate the comment about my gf being dumb, i forgot you two had met.

Wow, you have $1500? Tell me, how do i become that baller?

I agree with you. I never leave anything in my car. But again, that's not what his thread is about. With all do respect, i didn't state the entire story because i didn't think it was relevant. The ONLY thing that was visible were the sunglasses, not the laptop, not the navi, not the blue tooth. They broke in for the glasses.

I agree that you shouldn't leave stuff in your car, i disagree that your roommate and my gf deserved to have their stuff stolen. As i stated above, the electronics were NOT visible.

I think this is what happened, either that, or they cut it as soon as it went off.

Yeah it was reported. The horn was working before this, they definitely did something (guessing they cut it somewhere). To be honest i don't think it would have mattered. These guys did 14 cars that night, they seemed to know what they were doing.

wow man, you're funny, do you write your own stuff?

Do you act this way to all members with a post count of 10k or less?

Go ahead and do an IP check Internet wizard.

I agree with you 100% man - comments like that really show how f***** up our society is. I come on here to ask a question and i get all these negative responses. If i posted this in the off-topic section and was just venting, i would understand everyone giving me their opinion. But i asked about the horn.

I'm going to check the passenger side where the physical horn is located, then I'll try the direct wire idea.

lol, +1

To those who tried to help by answering my question, i thank you.

To those that feel the need to tell me serves her right, she's dumb, etc - get real. I didn't come on here to ask you about your thoughts on what happened. I shared a bit of the story because i didn't want to get posts like "why do you need to know where the horn wires go", "why isn't it working", etc.

We're all adults here, we all know that we shouldn't leave expensive items in our cars, let alone visible while unattended. I'm not arguing that FACT. But she didn't leave everything out like an electronics store for everyone to see. She left her glasses out, something that most people leave in their car. EVERYTHING else was hidden. She was also in her underground parking garage that requires a remote to get into...there are no side doors or any other way to get in. There is a sense of false security there, but seeing as how there were no cameras, it is underground, and there is only one way to get in - it's actually perfect for criminals because no one is around to see anything that happens late at night.

Anyway - back on topic. I'm going to try the two things mentioned above.

Sorry to hear you and your girl have to deal with this theft of your personal property. I suggest that you have your girl invest in an aftermarket alarm with a two way pager. The very first thing I did to my Z, was buying a Viper alarm with pager. I'm pretty sure this was an inside job, someone
who works there, a resident, a friend of a resident. They had to have knowledge of the garage, and know there is no surveilance. To hit 14 cars in one night is not random, it sounds planned to me.

I don't know how much of that stuff was left out in the open to be visible to others..but if they were...your gf kinda had it coming (Sorry to be harsh). If they all were hidden..well hell..must have been someone who has seen the items in the car or known there were some goodies there.

Theft can't be prevented...but at least you can try to detour them.

I never leave anything in my Z that looks valuable. I lock/club my Z 95% of the time.
