Wait, wat? You must have issues to think that. NO ONE BUYS AN EVO/STI/SRT-4/[insert similar here] FOR A NORMAL EVERYDAY CAR. Those people buy Lancers/Imprezas/WRXs/Neons for that. No one in their right mind would pay the cost of one of these and put up with them just as a "normal everyday car". People that buy them know what they are, what they're capable of, and treat them as such.

LMAO@normal everyday car... Z's fit in that category WAY more.

So it almost seems like this is the case.....
if you're running the stock block, you can hit high 300's or maybe 400hp safely
then it seems like once you do a built motor, its a jump straight to 700hp, am i right?

Thats the thing that appeals to me over the evo. It seems like with a built motor, 700hp on pump gas really is common on a built z. Am i correct here? To my way of thinking, if you have a built motor, why stop at 500hp?

Also, could someone please explain the what the person ment who said something along the lines of
IF YOU WANT SPEED, STAY WITH THE EVO, IF YOU WANT FUN, GO WITH THE Z

I wondered the same thing when I read that. In for answer.

I think youve got it OP. Now, check out this TT Z, Alberto's Z is absolutly sick! This is personally why I own a Z. Eventually I will build it like so

Wow, that is deffinatly sick. Just a guess, but that car is in the 750hp range?
Thats what i mean by the z being better on a highway type pull.

As far as turbo lag, what do the TTs spool up at? I know there are many variables, but on average, for lets say a 700hp z. For instance, mine is 4,000rpms

He's putting down mid 600's. His gearing plays a role along with the power. He's running pump w/alky, BTW.

Twin'd Zs spool about the same as your Evo. Dig up some dynos of TT'd Zs... you'll be jealous.

That much power is NOT common on a built Z, but is attainable with a good tune and alky. It's hard to hit that on pump. Most of the daily-driven built Zs I've seen are below 650 with the majority in the mid to upper 500s on pump. It's nothing that isn't attainable on an Evo running the same (you seen what Buschur puts out on pump gas). Bonus to the Z is the extra 1.5l of displacement and extra 2 cylinders. More torque and quicker spool are always bonuses. Evos, however, can get one hell of a powerband since we can rev to the moon (9k+ is common on built 4G63s). Hell, I spin my stock engine to 8k.

The only thing I agree with in that saying is the first part. It is extremely cheap and easy to go stupid fast in an Evo. If that's all you're looking for, look no further. You can go stupid fast in a Z as well, but it takes way more coin.

Both cars are damn fun to drive. I have just as much fun in my Evo as I did in my Z.

I make 605whp at my lowest boost setting this is at 13psi.

That was at 17psi w/meth, no race gas!

675whp 630ft/lbs @ that level

I have a higher boost/power setting but will not share those numbers.

If you think about it, just HP wise. You can get another car and make a lot more hp for 20k in mods. I bought the Z because i liked the way it looked, handled, and it's future potential, knowing that it wasn't going to be cheap to upgrade. If you are still debating over the Evo and Z, well picture it this way. If you had the money to be Ferrari or Lambo, would you instead get another car and fix it up, or just get the car you really wanted.

An '06 Z with a good bolt-on TT kit and just pistons/rods should have no problems running with a 500whp EVO on the street where launch traction is less of an issue. It should spank it on the highway, where aero and gearing have a large effect on acceleration. I base this on the fact that I have no problems running away from 300+whp STI's and EVO's on the highway with my 260whp NA Z.

If you're only concerned with 1/4 mile times, you're going to need 600whp and slicks to run with an awd 500whp EVO.

I disagree. Slicks > AWD anyday. The Z may need slightly more power due to slightly more weight, but not much.

500whp Evo vs 500whp Z on slicks from a dig is a drivers race.

If the EVO's on street tires...

I assumed an EVO on the track wouldn't be running street tires. Either DR's or slicks.

Either way, both will have similar 60ft's. Good drivers in RWD cars on slicks equalize AWD.

My 60ft's on slicks on stock block are comparable to 60ft's of Evos of the same power level.

I have yet to hit a "good" launch on my TT set-up and have already gone 1.67 to the 60ft. It will go 1.5's easy...

Don't forget... we're running 1.4s on slicks and extremely low 10's at 500awhp (driver dependant).

What was your best 60' back with the TN kit? Wasn't it a low 1.6?

For some reason, something seems wrong with this. At least the Evo part (since STis and their small turbo/large displacement combo loses steam above 6k). Alberto can attest to this... I've NEVER been beat by ANY bolt-on Z from the time I was stock running neck and neck with a bolt-on '06 from a roll to easily walking a full bolt-on Z when I only had 3 mods and no tune.
