Yes, there is something they sell to deal with the moisture you get inside your car when storing it for extended periods of time.
I'm sure other forums would know the name.

Just dont forget what I told you about the cover taking paint off. Make sure you have a high quality one. It can and will take paint off (mirrors, bumpers etc). Take care putting it on and off.

In addition to your suggestions, I normally pump the tires up more too, may be to 40 psi. Vacuum and clean the inside as best your can and don't leave any food.

2) carpet under tires
3) disconnect battery
4) oil change
5) battery maintainer
6) inflate tires (40psi)
7) clean and vacuum inside

 

From day one , Nissan made a big thing about the use of additives in the Z - NO STABILIZER ! Just top it off . Also , forget Google or whatever , go to www.batterytender.com . They make all the tenders for everyone else and order the Junior Tender for $ 39.95 . Have bought two of them . These have chips to prevent the battery from ever being fried as well , very , very important.They also have an easy clip or plug in system - safe and easy while you are away or just storing . I know . Learned the hard way with a Sears Automatic Charger . Automatic , yeh right ! The battery was fried ! The Junior Tender will keep it perfect for several months , I usually do 4-6 when away on vacation for the winter and never a problem . Putting carpet or something underneath is wise but don't forget to inflate your tires to 45 - 50 pounds, they'll lose air even on a carpet .Good luck !

 

Yea like I said I've never used a maintainer. Never needed it. I just disconnected neg batter cable and left battery in there.
Never used any additives either. I've never had problems

 

I live in Boston, and there absolutly no chance ill be putting this baby to bed for the winter!!! But then again, got to love having a Lease!! w00t.. Im waiting till 06 to buy a Z, give them a few years to work out all the bs... Also maybe by then ALL trims will be 300+ HP stock..

ummm i forgot the name but, i bought mine at my local hardware store. mine is the size as a cd and white colored. i guess it works, my car smelled clean when i opened it after winter.

Not really, but the maintainer helps a lot, it keeps it 100% at all times.

Running the engine creates condensation. The moisture is gonna sit in the exhaust system if you start it up. Unless you run the engine to normal operating temperature before shutting it off. I don't start mine at all during storage.

 

How about the oil change situation? I know it's good to get an oil change right before and right after storage... but is it gonna hurt much if after the storage i drive the car to the dealership for the oil change?

 

If you are going to run it from time to time like I did at first , then you don't need a battery tender but I used to top off the charge with a battery charger that I only put on for a few minutes while I was right there . It seems to enhance everything from starting to all of your electrically maintained items as well . Keeps the Z at peak ....
