Auto...can't do much!!!!
bHK1004~"im completely not arguing if either car is faster or not, as i honetsly wish i had a manual yet my Z was a gift... so i cannot compain"
did that gift come with a gift receipt? take it back to the store for a MT!

Go Google times for cars and you'll see that MT has the top times for any stock car (unless MT wasn't an option).
If you change the final drive you will also lower your top end and lower your fuel economy as well. The final drive of the AT is 3.357 and the MT is 3.538. Not much difference.
Also, you need more than 1 or 2 AT times before you can start assuming things. There are too many unknown variables, like the DA. Once you've been to the strip and raced enough, you will know what certain cars will and will not do. Every single stock AT I've raced that was the same car as mine, I pulled on them down the entire length of the track and I was MT. If the shifting alone was enough I wouldn't have pulled on them at all after the launch.

The newest Porsche 911 Turbo is the first Porsche in history where the AT is quicker in the 1/4 mile than the MT. Also GM states themselves that the C6 Vette has a quicker 0-60 time in AT than MT (not sure about the actual 1/4 mile though). AT's have come along way. Also if there isn't much difference between the rear ends the 6MT turbo guys wouldn't swap theirs out for the 5AT rear ends.
Yeah tell that to the guys running 8's, and low 10's with their automatics. lol

some guys buy the m/t so they would look more like a true "racer" but then all they do is just sit there in their garages polishing, putting on make ups and all sorts of nonsense "upgrades" and god-knows bling bling parts on their Z's. Some of em brag about how fast the m/t car can go, dissing on others' cars, when they themselves don't even dare take the Z to the track and take on other cars.
"a/t can't do much" - How many have used up all their brand spanking new pads over in a hour? how many have witnessed their temp gauges go all the way upto 3/4? how many have raced their cars until the tyres would actually start to break loose around corners due to overheating? if you haven't experienced any of this, your Z hasn't done much to give you all the fun you could ever have. mt and at can give you the same level of excitement but the real thing is when you track the fken car and push both your limits ...only then u can experience the real 350Z!

Braking s for the weak. I down shift!
But man if you go through brakes in an hour, then you brake way to hard/much. Key is to go as straight as possible, not corner every turn to waste your brakes! well that racing....less u just do it for fun! But must say Great Speech!

On that same token, why do people try to make their Z faster or handle better, if a majority of them are never going to take it to the track? Is it to beat moar people on the streets? Take an off-ramp a few mph faster?
An obvious exception is modding for a car show, but why dump 1000's of $ in mods into a car when you will never use it for what it was purchased for? And whats funny is most people will spend all this cash, only to end up losing most, if not all of the investment when they sell the car after realizing that they want to buy something faster.
On the other hand, it's a passion to make a car your own, I can respect that. If we all wanted lightening fast cars, we could buy a Fox-body Stang, or a better handling car like an Evo (examples), but neither offer the looks (IMO of course), balance or soul of a Z car.
How would I know? I dont have to autoX to take curves fast. I downshift and take the curvy roads all the time in my area, just did it tonight and left my buddy in his mustang behind. The reason why auto's are a bit harder to control is because you have to use your brakes through curves, when in manual mode or MT, you can downshift and power through the curve. So instead of you driving 100mph and breaking before the curve, you could downshift an slow down a bit but gas it through the curve and take off as it straightens out.... not that ide do it in the rain though =P
