I mean... if all I cared about was speed and power... I'd have spent all the money I spent on my Z on a 240SX and swap in an RB26DETT and upgrade the hell out of that.
WOW! People just don't get it over in that other forum. The vette certainly does have more HP...but then again, it's in a totally different class and price point. As far as handling is concerned, both handle well stock. But if you're truly after excellent handling and performance, aren't you going to do a few upgrades? Seriously, springs and struts or coil overs with a set of light weight rims and sticky tires...voila, it's on rails. I have a Z now but used to have a 64 vette convertible and I love both. The old vette was awesome...but I do love my Z and how it looks and handles. It boils down to personal taste and how much you can afford.
What's strange to me is that they practically gave away
the stangs, t-a's, and 80's/90's camaro's at the dealerships.
Huge rebates, 0% financing, easier or lower qualifying.
I recall how difficult, and expensive Z's, Supra's, Preludes
were to buy during that same time period.
I wanted a Z, but had to settle for a strong, but boxy and heavy
Mustang because I could not get a Z financed as easily.
Interesting thread. I was going to buy an '08 vette z-51 but bought the '08 350z instead. I found the quality a little bit better and didn't want to feel like I was racing every where I went. Budget didn't play a factor in my decision.
Vette's are an awesome car, but not as awesome as a 350z. Just my 2 cents.
Corvettes although being fast are not all there cracked out to be. I work on a few customer's that have them, and even mint kept ones always have something that brakes easily. the Z drives much tighter, and more solid than a vette does in my aspect of experience's. In a vette you do feel the road more for that race feel, but it's not an everyday car for me.
