Default Anyone Else Adding Cruise Control to their Base Z?

First of all, let me say how ridiculous it is for Nissan not to have cruise control on the base model Z. With that being said, is anyone in the same boat as me, wanting to get cruise added to their Z? I know what risk I take driving on the interstate to school w/o cruise control, and with 287 horses I’m sure I could get in trouble in a hurry and not even know it. I called my salesman and asked if they could add cruise control. He said they can’t, but anyone who wants it added they send to this shop locally called “Creative Audio.” I ran by there the other day and the sales girl said they have a standard cruise control kit that fits most cars. Price $299 installed.

Has anyone else called around asking about pricing on cruise control?

A standard kit that fits most cars will be a botched-up job compared to the 350Z cruise, which works with the nice buttons on the steering wheel. I wouldn't do it -- they will have to cut holes and put in switches, etc. Yuk!

The best solution is to get an Enthusiast model, where for only a little more money you get LOTS more goodies.

What's really ridiculous is that Nissan couldn't put the cool aluminum pedals on the Base. What the hell is up with that?

I can live without the cruise control, never had it before, so I don't know what I'm missing. But, MAN, I want those shiny pedals!

I can only assume that the lack of cruise control is a deliberate attempt to limit sales of the base model. Its only there to allow the advertizing geeks and press to say $26K !!!!!!!!
There should be a federal law that mandates a minimum number of sales before these low ball models are advertised.

Question Drive by Wire Technology

Does the drive by wire tchnology have any effect on installing aftermarket cruise control? I wouldn't want to go messing with that.
