Z as a daily driver?
I'm curious to know if anyone here is planning to use their Z as their primary car. My meager earnings only allow me to have one mode of transportation, and I am not sure whether the Z will be able to handle stop and go (bad traffic) conditions on a daily basis. I want a Z quite badly, but to ruin one driving in those conditions would be sacrilege. Anyone care to comment how often and in what conditions you plan to drive the Z?
This will be my third Z, the first 2 and this one will all be my daily driver. My previous Zs did not drive well in the snow (go figure) but this one should be better because I'm getting the Enthusiast which has traction control. This is a $28K car, its NOT a fricken ferrarri. I'm going to love driving that car every day of the fricken year. BTW, I considered getting the performance for the VDC, but I think the TCS will be sufficient for rain and snow.
Mine will also be my daily driver. My commute to work is only about four miles, which I'm learning is not too good for the engine. Luckily, I can take some back ways to increase it to eight or nine miles.
Never thought I'd hear myself say I want to make my drive to and from work longer, but that's the power of the Z!!
Can't wait!

The Z will be my daily driver, though I will be riding my motorcycle a lot too. Even if I wasn't selling my more practical car, I would select the Z or the motorcycle 99% of the time (except when I need cargo room, or 4 seats).
My Z will be a daily driver; 15,000 to 18,000 miles per year.
Manual transmission? No problem. I have 178,000 miles on the original clutch in my 1990 Eagle Talon TSi. I will probably have 182,000 before my Z arrives. I don't "dog" the car, but I don't baby it either.
I think modern automobiles have re-written the rules on longevity. If you treat them right, they will last a l-o-n-g time.

Daily driver for me too. It's my replacement for my '94 Firehawk that has been my dailyD since '94.
I frequently drive my "race" car to and from work and on weekends to "hunt mustangs" So this has helped to reduce the miles on the daily driver.

Mine will be a daily driver, but i do have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee ( a car my daughter used to drive) that I am keeping as my winter/bad weather/snow/heavy rain car. In my city, that will be less than 10% of the thime I might not take my Z out of the garage.

If you're worried about traffic, i guess it really depends on how confident you are with a manual transmission (if you so choose to get one). If you know how to work it; it shouldn't be a problem (although its more effort in traffic, but where's the fun in that?
).SCREW PRAGMATISM, GET A Z!!!!

(you all can quote me on that)

As far as weather conditions go, i think TC and VDC would help out a lot for you (i live in FL, so i could care less about driving in the snow. Although rain will be common and i wont have traffic control, I'm not worried).

As I have missed the boat on ordering the Z, I hope that when my350z.com members get your Z, you will share your experience with the car in various forms of traffic (like, was the car manageable? Do you sense stress on the engine/transmission? etc.) Thanks again for your insights.
