Loud = annoying and aggressive
Kinda loud = Aggressive and somewhat comfortable
Quiet = Comfortable and not aggressive

Thankfully I haven't and hopefully I won't.

Is this a bad thing? You drive a sports car, enjoy it!

I rev my '04 VQ35DE to 6500ish in multiple gears on a somewhat regular basis and that's my favorite sound/feeling, and my engine is stock with the exception of a K&N drop-in.

the 350z, if youre driving at high RPMs but not ***** to the wall pedal to the floor, makes a lot of noise without moving much. IMO at least

I agree. The loud noise causes me to shift early, making me think I'm at a higher RPM than I'm at!

That's what I'm getting at- it sounds like like you're flogging it when you're really not. And the vibration is more distracting than the noise. I just wondered if anyone else felt this way. It seems like it "wants" you to shift at 3700rpm.

I don't think there's anything wrong with your car, maybe worn engine mounts? In my experience the Z has a little more feedback than previous cars I've owned.

I only got rid of it because Honda wouldn't fix the tranny. That's why I have a 2008 VW GTI instead.

But it was much smoother. In the Z, you feel so much vibration through the steering wheel and everything.
Not true, the 07 Si doesn't have the same redline as the Type S

Well I have the 03 DE. I also have a 06 RevUp and drove the 07 HR when considering trading. The 06 feels smother ( less vibratiom ) to me than both the others, but runs out of stem before the HR obviously. they are all loud up top and if you get aftermarket exhaust even moreso. The 03 of mine feels negatively harsh up top.

Just my .02

I love to take 2nd gear to 7500rpm,the noise with my Bassanti exhaust is almost intoxicating at high revs I have to be careful not to hit the rev limit. On the dyno in 5th gear it pulled hard and smooth all the way to the speed limiter. There was absolutely no indication that the revs were nearing the redline.

Both stock and with the Nismo CAI, I find that above 5000rpm or so, the engine gets harsh, very loud and almost like it doesn't like to be revved so high. I thought the point of the HR was to make it smoother. There's nothing WRONG with it and there's a lots of power, but is it just me, or does it seem like there's just no reason to rev above 4000rpm in this car?

The day or two after I had the Nismo CAI installed, it felt very different-less power down low and more smoothness up top. I figured the MAF sensor was learning. I don't know if the ECM was reset or not.

I disconnected the battery overnight to see if I could duplicate that behavior, but I can't.

Has anyone found this?

Anyone who wants to chime in with the 2003-2006, please do as well!

Nah I think you're the only one.

Uhh, my honda v6 sounded no where near as loud as my HR. My HR with nismo intake/exhaust sounds so beautiful over 4k, it's like im unleashing hell's fury on the road.
