Snow tires or other car?
So I bought a Z a month ago and knew what I was getting into. I read all the info on driving a Z in the snow and was fine with it. So it came time for me to get some snow tires for the Z (I live in Nebraska, snow is already forecasted here). About the cheapest I could find was about $200 each for snow tires. So I decided to just buy a cheap car to drive when it snowed. I bought a dented up 97 Taurus that runs great, interior is great, heat is great and has new tires. Also, I only paid $400 for it. So I was wondering how many of you slap on snow tires, or did what I did?

you should lift the Taurus. seriously. fab a body lift for it and put some small BFG all terrains on it. and then you'll have earned ballin status.

If it was a "free" mod I would totally do that! I don't think I'll be putting any money into the Taurus. . .

Will these wheel/tires fit on a 2007 Roadster
I need to get some all seasons wheel package and was wondering if this will fit?

I use Pirelli Snows with dedicated winter wheels I purchased on ebay. Car is perfect in snow. With stock summer tires, can't move with less than an inch of snow on the ground. Dedicated wheels and winter tires best investment I ever made!

I've got an Explorer as well. RWD sports car in snow is a scary experience. To the OP, now is the time to buy a used 4WD SUV. Lots of them on the market now for dirt cheap. Not only will it handle the winter driving problem, you will be amazed at how handy they can be when you actually need to carry something.

Bought a Mercury Sable just to avoid what may be the unavoidable… You may be able to handle the snow but what about others that may have the Z's number. Never know when you're going to get T-Boned by some ignorant driver blasting through the snow.

Very true, you can only control what you do not everyone else on the road...I have been hit multiple times in the snow and not been at fault, especially in situations where you are stopped and someone else tries to but can't. Don't want to be in sitting my Z watching some big *** truck sliding toward me!

I did the same thing except I bought the junkier 1st but when the snow or rainy season hits the Z-car goes to sleep and the 90 4x4 Cherokee comes out this ugly sucker can go ALMOST anywhere. Being 4x4 doesn't help it stop but I usually can pul out of any snow bank that would cover up a Z-car.
And I can Go when others, spin, slip and slide but the main things nobodies bouncing off my Z but dust.
Smart Move and for only $400 bucks.

I wish I had done that. I may still buy a beater and then off-load my winter wheels and tires. But I don't want to sacrifice safety either...like I want airbags and ABS and all that even in my 'beater' car. So unfortunately I don't know if I'll find that for ~$1000 i.e. the cost of my winter wheel/tire setup. You made a good move IMO.

I have 2 rear wheel drive cars with summer tires MY Z and a Lexus and i just take the train when i need to get around.. Thankfully NewYork City it does'nt snow too much.. If it does its usually cleaned up within a couple hours after snow fall.. Location is everything off course
