First I'd like to say that having a 5AT or 6MT in now way classifies you a a person who "drives hard" or "doesn't drive hard". When it comes to crashes I think it's partly because the 5AT guys don't have to worry about the clutch, shifting, missing a shift, rev matching or any of that so they are able to put all focus on the road.

Not a fan of sarcasm I guess...
I'll be sure to maintain a completely serious attitude from this point on. My bad.

My guess is not that more crashes come from MT's than AT's, but that most people on this board drive MT's. Therefor for every 4 crashes 3 of them will be MT simply becasue for every 1 member who drives an AT on this board there are 3 that drive MT
I think that in general people who drive MT's (or if you use the manual shift-tronic setting on an AT where MT isnt an option on your car) are more into their car than people with AT's , and found this site while researching the 350z to the N (th) degree as I did.
I also bet their are more males on this site than females.... males are more likely to drive an MT than females
and the fun fact for the day... no idea if this makes a difference or not, but women get in far more accidents than men; however, men get into more serious accidents.

That's because women crash because they aren't paying attention or just don't know how to drive properly. Men crash because they drive like friggin maniacs.
Sure that's only a generalization coming from someone who isn't qualified to fix a toaster, but darned it it doesn't seem true.

Hey, I've owned manuals all my life. I felt like a boob when I was learning the manual, but now I don't think I'd switch. At least not on this car. I'd drive an automatic for anything but a sports car.
My wife has an Accord and there is no reason whatsoever for us to have that in a manual. I don't hate on people for their tranny, but I would never drive another auto sports car. I just think it is so much more exhilarating.
What was this thread about anyways?
