Don't wear wool or fleece. Those materials build up a static charge more than others. I would know, everytime I wear a hoody to work I get shocked by my damn filing cabinet.

Yeah, but I open it with the plastic door handle, then close it from outside of the car...I can't use the plastic handle to close the door b/c I wouldn't be able to get out of the way fast enough esp. in tight parking situations.

Jesus.

He means, when you open the door (most likely with your left hand since you are driver of said Z) to maintain contact with said door. By either sliding your hand from the interior trim towards the outside of the door then pushing it shut, then letting go of door. The catch here is pushing the door out wide enough so you can still maintain contact with it and have enough room for you to slip out of your car. Or you can do 1 of two things else:
-Keep static cling in your jacket pocket and touch the static cling prior to closing door
-Move to a climate like Florida where the winters are still humid outside enough so that you won't ever get shocked.

I have leather in my car to oh and heated seats. LOL but that has nothing to do with it. I really do think its the shoes I wear to work. When I wear sneakers it happens but not as bad. When I wear work shoes you can literally see the bolt that goes from my hand to the car door.

I usually put a foot out and touch the door jam before I step out to ground myself and I never get shocked.

It usually shocks me that the doors weigh a ton or I'm just shocked when the door almost breaks my leg, other than that, I'm not shocked

Happens to me every single time now that the weather is getting cold. Some shocks hit pretty damn hard too, I can feel it all the way up my arm at times.

I make it a point to zap someone close by when I am climbing out. I got my gf on the nose real good the other day.

Hold a key in your hand and touch the metal door frame as you exit. It acts as a lightning rod and discharges the static without pain.

Or if you are a real ***** buy this
