Changes to 2004 Z?
Hey, what are the changes and new options available? the search function didn't work for me (slow server)
I read that the G35C is getting a new armrest, cupholder, better 6disc changer, and a few other things that I can't remember (it was on tcc)
What about the Z? I saw about kneepad, XM, and a few other things but didn't remember...

They come with a forum search function! j/k
No kneepads in mine. Non-nav unit, and the door jsut flips up instead of up and in. Other than that, I can see no different\ce. Jsut hoping they've fixed some of the other problems, like the window grease thing or the tranny problems it seems some have... keeping fingers crossed...

One change that seems to have been overlooked - possibly b/c it's really not that big of a deal - is that the '04 comes stock with an intercooler and you can get a factory installed turbo as an option.
Did that get your attention
Seriously, one miniscule change I noticed b/c my buddy's '03 Enth and my '04 Enth - besides the stuff mentioned above - is that there are small arms which hold out the seat belts from the B-pillars a bit. Makes them a bit easier to grab the belt when buckling up, but I suspect their original purpose was to keep the passenger side belt buckle from clanking against the B-pillar.
Again, nothing Earth shattering, but a change that I haven't seen anyone mention. Of course, I could have missed something.
One that I have seen other's post is that there is a 2nd lighter located near the bottom of the passengers-side dash.... presumably for a radar detector install.

in a picture, I saw the gauges were black instead of silver, same for the radio unit...
no confirmation on that from an actual owner. could have been a preproduction 04, or camera tricks.
theres also the liquid silver color option.
window streaks were fixed a few months ago, as would the transmission problems, if there are any. problems like this get TSB and the fix is implimented in the line immedietly, they dont put out more faulty things that they will be responsible for under warrenty; waiting for a new year. to an assembly line a new model year means little more than a different vin number.
they take the opportunity to add things they wont be repsonsible for adding to past models, such as a new nav door or xm wireing. thats not a faulty item being replaced.

Ares,
Thanks for reminding me. You are right... No camera trix on the radio and temp controls - they're black. However, the difference is slight. The pix dramatically increase the color differences b/t the surrounding dash and the radio/controls. It's not like you can't tell, but it doesn't whack you over the head as much as the pix I've seen do. My pal said that the radio model number is different, but I'm taking his word on that. I can't see any difference b/t our two radios.
Unfortunately, it looks like the window streak fix has yet to hit the line, as my '04 was made 07/03 and I just got the streakies the other day (I've had the car < 1 week).
Like you mentioned, I was hoping that by getting an '04 that I would get to avoid some of the known bugs, but apparently, I'm not so lucky.
Cheers,
Munky

in another thread there was a pic of a 04 Z with radio buttons on the steering wheel. having stereo buttons and cruise control is a big change in my opinion that they should have listed...
