Picked it up tonight (tires and front license comment)
I picked up my Silverstone, Touring, 6-speed w/ splash guards and mats this evening. I had to go back to work after picking it up so I’ll give a few quick observations to add to the other info that will soon be pouring in. The vehicle was from Nissan in Cerritos. I was the first Z owner to take delivery out of the three they received so far. I’ve only driven about 50 miles so far but will be able to post more this weekend if people are interested. People there were great. As some of you already know, Veronica the 350Z lady left the dealership a couple of weeks ago.
For the half-full crowd: The car drives like a dream. I used to drive a ’93 corvette and the handling is very similar. The Z drives like a true sports car. Steering and suspension are tight but not harsh. The overall appearance is “stunning”. As far as interior comfort and visibility are concerned they were what I’d expect from a true sports car. Sure visbility is a little restricted from the back but you quickly get used to it. I didn’t experience the bathtub feel at all but rather a nice feeling of being wrapped in a high performance “cockpit”. Bose radio sounds very good. Dash at night looks good. Front splash guard is highly integrated and looks great.
For the half-empty crowd: The interior is better than I thought after peeking through the window of the cars I saw last week at Nissan Headquarters - but a concern of “durability” still stands. I have a feeling that while my interior looks nice in its pristine condition it may not age well. I feel that some of the material used on the dashboard and doors will “scuff” rather easily. Rear splash guard looks less integrated and is just okay.
Miscellaneous tidbits:
- The tires on the touring 6-speed are 225/45 R18’s in the front and 245/45 R18’s in the back. This is counter to what was posted a while back in some other thread.
- I did not get the license plate bracket installed but just so you know there are two “pilot” dimples from the factory that show the shop people where to drill the holes.
- Cerritos did honor the $1000 off MSRP that was discussed on this site.
Overall I’m very, very satisfied with the car. If any of you have specific questions I try to respond as soon as I can.

Hey autobahn, were you at the parking lot with Jamba Juice and Johnny Rockets in Manhattan Beach last night around 8? I coworker said she saw a silverstone Z (she knows because I have pictures of silverstone plastered all over the place in my office) there last night and the plates were cerritos nissan. I work right across from there....wish I could have seen it!!!
