Question Where's the 350Z "turbo" model???

Not sure if this has been addressed or not, but just in case it hasn't, I have a question...

Late last year I remember reading an article with one of the first reviews of the 2003 350Z (I think it was Car and Driver, but I could be wrong). In the article is stated that there would be a "standard" model that would produce 280 hp and a "turbo" model that would make 320 hp. What happened to that????? Was the idea scrapped or something? When I first began Z shopping a couple months ago and asked the salesmen about the turbo model, they gave me the rundown on the different types (i.e. enthusiest, touring, etc), but no "turbo" model. In fact one guy even laughed and said "Yeah right... that would be nice". I am beginning to doubt that I read the artice correctly, but want some type of conirmation. Did anyone else hear about the "Turbo" model???

sorry.... no turbo model. There is a race-spec engine that is good for about 320-330hp. There were some posts a long time ago about how to buy that engine and replace your engine with it.

You are better off upgrading to the NISMO cams, headers and intake; Crawford plenum and race-cats; any free flow exhaust... all that should get you close to 320hp.

Or, add the ATI Procharger...

Default More power!!!

Bummer!!!! I figured as much, but couldn't had any official news anywhere. Ok, I have to ask... what is a "Crawford plenum" and "Race-cats"??? I have seen those mentioned in several posts, but don't know what they are (or what they do for that matter). The other stuff I know about.

http://www.crawfordzcar.com/
go here and then choose "engine" to see pics and info on Crawford plenum and race cats...

Race cats are hi-flow catalytic converters.... one will replace the two per manifold on your Z and they are less restrictive, allowing exhaust gasses to pass through faster.

The plenum improves airflow to all the cylinders, allowing for more power.

Any car engine is really just a big air pump.... the more air you can pump through it, the more power it will make.
