Default what to look for when buying a used Z

Hey everyone, I'm new to your boards. Hopefully I'm not repeating a thread that happens multiple times daily but here goes..

I'm looking into buying a used Z and I have a couple of questions for you. I just bent a rod in my current car and I'm thinking about switching over to the import world. I've always loved the Zs, old and new, and I think this is the car I want to have while I finish up school and begin my career.

I really would like the factory warranty to still be in effect so from the research I've done that means I need to go with 2006 and up correct?

Also, I don't want a car that someone has abused so what are the signs of that on these cars? (other than bald tires lol)

From reading about them, my main concern about the cars is the oil consumption on the rev-up motors. Is there any way to determine how much of a problem they have when I'm test driving or looking under the hood or no? Also, will nissan 100% backup the TSB if the car is burning the required amount of oil? (I think it's like > 1/3 quart in a 1000 mile period, right?)

On the MT, I've heard that it's very bad for the synchros to jump shift (skip gears) in these cars. Is that true? Is there any way to tell if they have been damaged?

I'm looking for a fun and reliable sports car that I can baby and keep around for a long while. I'm pretty sure the Z is a suitable option but I just want to know what to look out for while I'm searching for the right one. Thanks in advance for all your help!

JD

Unfortunately you are. The question about reliability is asked several times each week.

If you are looking for reliable transportation a performance sports car is not for you.

Thanks for your opinion on what car I should drive. Anyone with actual advice or information relative to the specific questions I asked? I would appreciate it.

Make sure your year of birth is at least 1985.

If you are looking at a 2006+ model, you might be better off spending a bit more money and buying whatever is left of the 2008 models. They are discounting them heavily right now.

The 350Z is not for everyone. Enjoy the RSX.

Yea I would shell out a little more cash and get an 07 or 08. They really put those together well, plus you get more power and Revs, without the potential problems
