LMAO, I was gonna let that go. The statement alone was enough to reflect the guy didn't have a horse in this race, so to speak.

I have an '05 6MT Z Roadster & love it. It's just so much fun with the top down. You can hear that beautiful, exotic exhaust note so much more. It's a little heavier than the coupe but it also has more torque than the coupe. Power retractable top is very convenient when you want the top down while waiting for the light to turn green. A drive in it always clears my head & puts a big smile on my face. The trunk actually has a diagram on how to store a set of golf clubs. No complaints at all.

Hey sprintcar 70,
I wouldn't be all that interested in trading for your vette, but I do have an 06 enthusiast that I'd be willing to sell. Since you were wondering if anyone had anything poor to say about the Z, I'd have to tell you that living in the burbs of Chicago, are a real pain with this car. No joke, just the other day I pulled it out of my garage onto driveway and with the inch of snow out there, I couldn't get it pulled back in. Honestly, if you live in the midwest, unless you've got a winter car, the Z will likely give you a headache. If you don't care though, I'm just looking to break even or close to even on how much I owe on this thing....about $25K if your interested.

Lemme know,

I don't think sprintcar thought that there were so many Corvette supporters on this site.

I was kinda surprised also! Seems like the 350z community is all about cool fast cars-with a preference for Z's Great crowd

hopefully people who responded still are around, did anyone who had both compare the gas mileage?? I have a Z strictly for MPG and looks, obviously the vette is faster but the Z is my commuter because I have a big truck, I couldnt afford 2 gas guzzlers. Dont get me wrong I am way into my Z and I think it looks better (-points for the middle age crisis stigma on the vette) but I have always been a vette man at heart.

Vette gets better mileage. Btw, nice job bumping a year old thread.

Default don't do it

The z for the money imo is the second best sports car bang for your buck.
the vette is first of course but it cost twice as much also.
i've owned both.2 zs and 1 c5. but i still miss my C5.

I just have to chime in here, since I got rid of a C5 to buy an '06 Z last June. I have been driving Vettes continuously since 1975. The C5 was the most fun, but the quality was $hit. At 42,000 miles the engine made noise intermittently, the differential case was cracked, and the entire differential unit made a LOT of noise going down the road. The car was not abused, was serviced regularly, and I took very good care of it. Whenever I complained about this cars problems, whether it was to a dealer, or to a mechanic who specializes in Vettes, the answer was always "oh yeah, that's common for those cars". Say what? My previous Vettes all went over 100,000 miles with no problems.
That being said, you'll miss the V8 rumble. I had the Corsa exhaust on the Vette and I miss the music that system made when under hard acceleration. The Vette cornered like it was on rails, the Z definitely does not. The Vette is a meat and potatoes, fun car that likes to be pushed. The Z is a small sporty car that runs good. I get tired of every snot nosed kid in a tuner car wanting to test himself against the Z (doesn't say much about their aspirations).
I've been driving Nissan pickups since I bought my first one in 1985. All 5 were bought new, and they never gave me trouble, up to the '07 I'm currently driving. AS much as I like the Z, I could see getting another Vette...

im sorry. although the vette is deff fun to drive and is very quick to the punch all that does not compare to the ride of my z at the least. i've driven lots of customers vettes and i just do not like the ride. new or old. only thrill i get is the power to the wheels from a vette. I can see why you wanna trade it though.

I have a 96LT4 Corvette and a 350z as a daily driver. I like the z, but it's not the one I would chose if I could only have one. You'll miss the sound and power of the Corvette. Both have been extremely reliable and trouble free.

Default Vette for a Z update

I was the original yahoo who posted the first thread this time last year. End result: I ended up trading my 2002 C5 Vette for a 2006 C6 Vette Convertible. However, even though that's the route I took, I still - and always will love the Zs, 350 and the 370. They are great cars, and I respect those with them. I love my C6, and finally was able to get exactly what I wanted - a manual, convertible, in the burn-your-retina yellow. Gas mileage is good (I think), but I can't keep my foot out of the pedal long enough to find out. I challenge anyone to drive our cars (Zs or Vettes) to eek-out the very best gas mileage...they are just too fun! Anyway, no regrets. Someday I will have a Z of some sort though!

haha, thanks for the update. given the options I would have gotten a c6 as well. I hear you on the gas pedal mashing. the fun in driving outweighs the cost of gas for the time being.

I test drove a 2007 Vette the other day. I'm considering trading my 08 Z for it. The impression that I got on the vette was more power, but I love the way the tranny/gears feel on the Z. I also felt that the Z was more manuverable and easy to drive. The visibilty isn't great on either, but the Z is better in my opinion.

I guess that it all depends on what you want. I'm having a real hard time making a decision. My Z is almost paid off, and it only has 2,400 miles on it. Eventhough the Vette only has 2,900 miles, I know how I've pampered my car. I would also have to pay an extra $17,000 to get the vette paid off.

I test drove alot of different convertibles including C6. I found 04 Z roadster w/body kit 19's for 18. I have never got so many looks, and questions as this car. It is so easy to drive and has been reliable. I drive an 18 wheeler for a living and hopping in this after work is heaven. I went to the Henderson Auto museum in Gateway CO and when we walked out there were as many people standing around our car as there were in the museum. I have always been a die hard Chevy guy. Had a 69 SS396 Nova, 70 1/2 Z28, 71 Malibu, etc. I love Vettes but, I'll keep my Z.
