That does seem odd rocketscientist.

I really expected that you would be getting your car within a week or so, as your order number (S261xxx) is the same as every car reported delivered so far on this forum. Not that anyone has ever told us this means anything, but it does seem like more than a co-inky-dink.

Hopefully your dealer is a bit mistaken, and you will be getting a 'guess what! - I goofed" phone call.

Keep us posted.

Rocketscientist

The initial printout from the dealer a little over a month ago showed an ETA in September. The report I got last Friday had pushed delivery into October.

I don't know which model you're getting but I have a feeling that with all the Touring models ordered there probably is a parts shortage or something.

As usual my dealer (Santa Rosa) doesn't have a clue what's going on except what his reports show.

The only inital delay in the Z's was location of manufacture was changed to California, (thats also why you see it being released in Cali faster) any other delays is just because they were shipped late, and/or, they are backed up with orders. Not to mention, I've been hearing people have not been getting what they order for, so they have to wait EVEN LONGER for them to re-build another one. So don't get too excited untill you see your "order". Someone might order a Red Touring, but get a Blue one instead.. so just don't get hopes up untill you see it.
I personally ordered mine in June, and now I'm set to get it in October. Black Touring 6spd.

What alternate universe, crack-smoking 350Z forum have you been going to? I won't even bother to elaborate on why everything you mentioned is 100% incorrect save for your delivery date.

I received an email from ZISME Saturday with a possible explanation. My car was and still is listed as a first week of July production, September delivery. My car has not been built yet! Apparently, there was a "chip" shortage and production was moved to August and the car still has not shipped. He said hopefully I would get the car sometime in October. I'm sure others are in the same boat. Does this mean that all production has ceased? Do only the "upper" models get the chips that are available because of higher profit margins? Why did they bump production of these early orders toward the end of the pack instead of fitting them in ASAP? Why did they not update the dealer information sheets? Lots of questions, few answers.

I am in the same boat. I was told my car fell into the chip shortage category and that my build was delayed. I was told early Oct delivery maybe late sept.

Chip shortage? What's this...what model did y'all have. I was told end of October, but was thinking more like the beginning after seeing delivery date pushed forward by a month recently...now some are being pushed BACK a month!?

Consider this, if they stopped making all touring+ models cause of lack of parts, they thus had to expedite the base model while the others are being waited for, so there was a massive mailing sent out to the base model orderes, that we would be getting our cars a month aheaed of time due to productivity changes.

(Just a dream in an imperfect world.)

Notice that ZISME has dissapeared, he probably saw the tidal wave of problems coming, and went MIA.

ordered enthusiast... i imagine all will use the same ecu as all of the engines are tuned the same throughout the model range.

The base models cpu does not need the features to hand VDC and TC, as well as cruise control and other features. Its a different CPU altogethor.

Since nobody knows which "chip" is short...if that's the real reason, there's no way to know which models are affected if not all. Let's not speculate too much without the facts.

I'm on hold with 800Nissan1 as I type this. Hopefully they'll have some info. One thing's for sure: People on the west coast have taken delivery of Z cars of all flavors and colors. Given that to be the case, then Nissan has been able to build cars of any style for some time. Given THAT to be the case, I will be f-ing livid if I have to wait to get my car until October due to a part shortage. I ordered on Jan 12th!!!

If there's any truth to this (and that remains to be seen), then there is truly no justice.

(Especially after going to Port Newark and seeing all those cars for the past few days.)
