Yeah, has anyone checked on parts yet?
I'm 300 miles from my 7500 service, so I'll ask when I go in if no one else has.
(I always ask for parts in person...they seem to never be able to find them over the phone).

Both posts were made around the same time, today was possibly the worst day I have had in the past year. My posts before have been nothing but praise to all of you. The day still continues, but now that I realized what I did I continue to apologise.

I guess you could say I am fairly new, about 2 months here. I have nothing but love for all of you. Sorry that I vented on the boards, today just wasn't good for me. Not a single second of the entire day did I say wow I am happy I woke up this morning. Not trying to make people feel sorry for me, just hoping you all will understand, this is EXTREMELY rare form for me, so please just bear with me. Tomarrow will bring the same old Chris around, and I will be back to my normal self. Again, I am sorry.

Thanks for the response, Chris. Yesterday was that kind of day for me. I just try not to spread my ill will (except for my poor wife, God bless her).

Looking forward to having your "old self" back soon....

Take care.

So when can we retrofit our 03's with this option?

OK, I took my car in for 7500 miles today.
I checked on the part #.
I THINK IT IS 68250 CD070: $101.00
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE VERIFY THIS?!?!
My dealer's parts listing for the 2004 was pretty "iffy".

While I was there I looked at the convertible roadster.
The one I looked at did NOT have navigation, but I did notice something strange about the cubby door.
The cubby door swings up...and that's it!
This one did NOT slide back like the one in the 2003!
And to make it worse, it looks even flimsier than the 2003's cubby door.
If this is the door that they motorized then I am NOT impressed!

So, my questions to anyone that may know (especially xw34x):
Does the 2004's motorized nav door truely follow the same motions as the 2003?
Does it pivot up, and then slide back a few inches so that it is more or less flush with the main console?

Two simple pictures of it in both the open and the closed positions should satisfy my curiosity.

Pv

PS: It is a shame that I visited a Nissan dealer and none of the salesmen knew anything about the nav door, nor did they have a Z they could/would demo it on. Furthermore, they did not even know the nav door was motorized. Nor did they realize that the one I looked at opened differently than the 2003s. Nor did they even know about the [by now old news] TSBs related to the transmission and feathering (and more) problems in the Z.

CAR SALESMEN ARE STUPID!
If you don't know **** about the cars you are selling then Nissan should fire your ***!

My 04 Navi door gets stuck all the time. Anyone else have this problem? Boy, for a Japanese car, I'm having more problems than a Chrysler.

I am SURE you could find some 04 owners who want to do nav in their cars that would swap the nav door/pocket with you, since the screens do not fit well in the o4s....

Maybe he would have spelled "incompetent" right if he was in a better mood. LOL. Sorry, couldn't resist.

I have the same problem. Probably about once every other week my nav door won't open for a day or so unless i kind of "force" it open with my hand (and always feel like I am breaking it)

I am afraid to have the dealer work on it though, I can only see them making the problem worse

You brought a 4 month old thread back alive just to make a useless comment about a spelling error?

my nav door sticks and i've been waiting since october 03 for the dealer to get the parts in to replace it. I keep getting dropped through the cracks. time to deal with another service dept i guess.

re: the open/close process:

a) If the door is open while car is on, push the button to close it, let it close, and then shut the car off. Then, when you restart your car, it will remain closed unless you push the button to open it.
b) if the door is open and you shut the car off, the door will close. then when you restart your car, it will re-open on its own.

you can always shut it and open it while driving. The key to whether or it opens up automatically when you start your car is whether or not it was shut last time you shut your car off.

I, too, leave it shut most of the time. However, the Nav unit is still on. The only thing the door opening and shutting does is turn on/off the monitor. if you pay attention, you will hear it beep at startup.

My door has been making a horrible noise since I bought it. It works fine, but it makes a slight grinding noise. I need to take it in. The motorized function is so much nicer than the 03 navs.

I'm having the same problem with my nav door now. I started the car yesterday and the door wouldn't open. I tried shifting the door a little, hitting the button....nothing. It opened once randomly, by itself about 10 minutes into my drive and worked like nothing happened. The next time I started my car, it went back to not working. Have any luck with yours since this post?

The guy you quoted hasn't replied in 2 months, so I doubt you will see a response from him. If you are having problems with it, just take it in to the dealer.
