Default demistifying the '04 nav doors

wow... i just picked up my car today.. i feel so damn good dood.. i waited for so long!! anyways i got a super black /burnt orange 2004 touring fully loaded with navi. anyways.. a lot of ppl has been talking about the new navigation door. it opens automatically everytime u turn on the engine and it closes automatically everytime u turn off the engine. when u're driving, u can press the button to make it go down automatically or go up automatically too. i think it's very cool. no more pulling the cover back to close it no more.. i think there was another thread about this already but if i recall correctly, the author thought it could only be opened or closed when turning on/off ur engine? anyways.. that's not true.. u can open/close it when u're driving and it's still automatic. if this info is old news then im sorry i guess haha

I was wondering if that only implies with the Sat Nav for the door to auto open and close.

That's good to know. I wonder if we can install this on our '03 Z's? And how much $ for the automatic door?

ypwpat.. im not sure what you're asking but i think all the Z with navigation door can auto open and close.

apexi350z.. im not sure about that. i just got the car i will go look through the navigation manual and see if i could change the setting.

macguru.. im not sure if you can intall it on the 03 Z's or not. u might want to check with dealers or ask NNA

neohalo1.. i dont' see the point of taking the pic because it looks exactly the same as the '03 ones you know? it just goes up automatically.. on the other hand, i think a video clip might be useful to show how it works but i dont have any means of doing that.. sorry =( the motion and the movement is the same order as the '03 nav but just imagine it being automatic when you press that button on the cover.

i hope i've answered everyone's questions..

Technically the 03 nav door IS automatic when opening.. just not to close it.

you could say that, however. Many have complained of the '03 nav doors getting stuck on hot days or not going up all the way where you would have to push it up. The '03 door is what you could call a spring loaded door. The '04 has a motor.

P.S. Complaining is what will end up being the death of this country.
Then stop complaing about the weight of the new door, and also stop complaining about complaining!!!

Well i was saying if the auto door only availble for 350Z that fitted a sat nav? Does the 2004 350Z with no sat nav also get the auto door?

Cheers

I wasn't complaining. I just meant that if you don't have a nav it really doesn't need the motor.

Default '04 Nav Door Motor....

The motor was made necessary due to so many people breaking their non-motorized '03 Nav doors. Just couldn't grasp the "pull out and then push down" thing.

I have the '03 Nav and I know that is not a natural movement. Ya just want to swing the thing down like any other flip up door.......so far I have caught myself doing it wrong without breaking it.

I don't think I would like the Nav door to open every time I started the engine.........I don't use the nav every time I drive the car. Just a button to push when I wanted to open the door and then another push to close it would be the best way to do it for me.

from what I understand, the button used to open the 03's now operates the 04... if you were to want it down push the button and walah... its down

Chris - I think you are new to this site but the comments I've read from you in two separate threads show very little respect for your fellow members.

The "bad mood" excuse is all used up now. Please do not post unless your mood is under control.

Thanks in advance,

Tim
