We should compile a list of known issues and problems.

That way, we can get things fixed as fast as possible.

Vandyz is correct about the Corvette's transmission is significantly behind you, in fact the Corvette's transmission is actually a transaxle. Almost like a front wheel drive car. So the there would be no noticeable gear whine duee to the fact that the gears are in the rear of the car. Right now I have a 1993 Toyota MR2 and when I put it in reverse it whines like a straight cut gear in a muncie four speed. Does it sound like that or is it more like a humm?

I have noticed it as well. It isn't as loud and the Z32 tranny, but it is noticable. I assumed that is was the "fresh" gears and that it would quiet up a littel over time. Also, the "treatment" for the Z32 noise problem was Redline oil. I am planning on doing this to mine at the first oil change at 1200 miles. Hopefully it will quiet up some.

Definately not. It sounds like we have our first manufacturer's defect on our 1st year car. At least its not anything serious.

I heard the gear whine today! When I first started it and it was cold, I definitely heard what you are talking about. After it warmed up a bit, it seemed to go away.

My SLK starts with the tranny in a special warm-up mode that makes LOTS of gear whine until the fluid warms up a bit. Maybe there is a similar thing in the Z?

Yeah, I think I will have to go with the Redline MTL for the tranny also.

You might want to be careful since some hear it while others to not; maybe the whine is due to a low level of lubrication -- but then again, I am not a mechanic. Maybe let it warm up prior to departing.

Everyone please check all your oils and fluids and make sure they are up to the recommended level. My parents bought a 2002 Sentra and upon arriving home from the dealership , my dad checked the engine oil and there was only about 1 quart of oil in there rather than 4 quarts. I couldn't believe it either when he told me but it's true.

I actually have noticed the glass on glass type noise z350z was hearing around the passenger door. I'm at 400 miles and noticed it once I got on the highway...have to go in on Monday to sign off the final papers and will definetly have them look at it....will update if I learn more.

I mistyped, "NOT" letting me sit in them.
