it's so you match the revs when you downshift....makes it so you can accelerate faster. it's called something like heal toe'ing.

The announcer stated that the tires on the m3 were unsuitable for the track or road conditions. Also, the driver constantly said that the car was heavy on the corners. Either he wasn't used to driving heavier cars or the m3 isn't as good around a complex track as the 'track' model z is.

Yes, you're right. That was after the gtr took off. The m3 is a straight-line monster.

Don't forget that the Boxter was not a Boxter S. If it was the S, it would have hung in there with the rest of them (if not beating them all). Although it was a cool race to watch, I wouldn't base any judgments regarding the relative performance of those vehicles based on the results of the race because the Skyline blocked the other cars from running head-to-head against the Z for most of the race. The only real conclusions you can draw from watching that race is that the GT-R is much faster than the Z, M3, and S2k, and that the base Boxter was not designed to go up against 240+ HP machines.

They had a battle with G35, Z350, and M3. With only three cars on the track, the M3 easily won the race at the final straight away.

Even if it was a Boxter S, it probably would still have been 4th. Not the only reason, but notice the power/weight ratio would still be lowest of the four.

and the boxter s is 52K. let me take the 25K to make my car even better....and it'll whoop it's *** worse than it was whooped on the video! and the gt-r didn't block it that much. the m3 passed the s2k. so, it could have passed the gt-r. those types of races are always like that. a race is a race...it was fair from the beginning. but, that's my view on it.

the fact that theres another car in front of you thats not even in the race will bother and anger any racer. you can see how mad the s2k driver gets because the skyline is in the way, and soon after he realizes how pissed off gansan is, it gets out of the way (walking the z like its standing still as well ;P ). the race would have been a lot closer had the gtr not been in it, and who knows what the outcome would have been had gansan not messed up one of the turns. (and it was this error that let the m3 pass BTW)

i'm taking these best motoring vids less seriously the more i see. i've seen one where m3 destroys g35 and 350z. i've seen one where s2k destroys g35 and wrx. i've seen one where 350z and gtr beat m3 and s2k. and i've seen one where wrx beats gtr and rx7. they have a value in that you actually get to see the cars in action, but the order of finish alone, is not very meaningful.

Jeez, every time there's any car comparison threads, arguments like these come up. Who was talking about modded cars? I was strictly talking about the STOCK cars. And the GT-R didn't block that much??? It's been a while since I last saw the video, but I seem to recall that the GT-R was blocking all the other cars for the first three laps!! That's more than half the friggin race!

if you call racing "blocking"...then, yes, you are right.

you were talking about stock cars...yes. but, a boxter s....they weren't racing a boxter s. also....you really think the boxter s will make that much of a difference? yeah, it'll be closer...but i still think the z will beat it. the only difference is 2.7L 228 hp H6 and 3.2L 258 hp H6. 30hp will bring it closer...not past it.

sorry if you took me as arguing...wasn't trying to be like that. just adding in my opinion.

Yeah you're talking about STOCK cars, but you DO know that a Boxter S is outta Z'a price range? It'll be within GT-R's price range in Japan...

There's a best motoring video where they were racing automatic(tiptronic) and manual versions of three cars, LanEvo, 360 Modena, and M3.

During the race the 360 Modena bumps the LanEvo, it's hilarious.
