![Question](https://my350z.com/forum/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I'm going to buy a 2003 350z with 51,000 miles from a private sale, and I want to buy an extended warranty. It no longer has a warranty because of the "year" part of the warranty. So my question is... Does anyone know if it is possible to "buy" the extended warranty from Nissan? Or do I have to go through an independent warranty company? Also, would anyone know about what this would cost?
I just went to Nissan Extended Warranty and they gave me a list of quotes, but what I am confused about is what is says, "I want coverage for at least --[blank] years from my in service date"
What exactly does "in service date" mean? Does this mean when the car was originally purchased from FIRST owner, or when it was purchased by me?

Generally Nissan will sell you an extended warranty if they sell you the vehicle. Consider that they have never seen or inspected a vehicle from outside the dealership. There are mileage limits. Also consider that a Nissan warranty may not be a Nissan warranty. Somewhere in the fine print it is backed by a second party.
In service date is the date that the vehicle is originally titled.

Warranty at the mileage your at would probably be better going through a 3rd party co. Honestly speaking in dealing with customers who have such companies handle there vehicle problems is a big waste.
In my opinion if you have the $ to buy a nissan Z let alone it being a 2003 then you should have the $ to be able to repair it as well "if" something goes wrong.
If you wanna play....you gotta pay!
In the long run you'll be paying for an "in case" ish happens kinda deal. And what if nothing happens??? consider that extension a loss.

The car has already had the tire feathering issue fixed, new window motors, and fuel line injector [something like that] replaced under warranty.
Kenpo_350z how much did it cost you for that?
