glad you were paying attention, way to trust your instincts op. I was going to say you should call the Mac he was at so they can keep an eye out, maybe even bust the guy.

Yea, code grabbing software and a laptop. I dont think that is a big concern now days. Most cars have the immobilizer system. Code grabbers used to be a problem with car alarms, but alarms are way past that now as well. So yes, they could get in your car, I dont think the Z rolls codes (technology used by alarms now), but they couldnt start it.

Do you take your garage opener out with you when you leave your car...?
Wouldn't that still be in the car if it were stolen?

I've seen a security cam video of car thieves tying some cans to the back side of the car, so when you drive off you think somethings caught or loose so you stop, get out to look. In the case of the video the girl left her keys in the ignition as she went around back to have a look and they got in and drove off.
This sounds very similar and it'd prob work just as well.

I hate to break it to you, but unless that story has been verified by Snoops.com, then I am afraid it can not be true and must be deemed an urban legend!

Too many people every single day are on auto by that I mean, people just focusing on what is in front of them, not paying attention to there surroundings. you could use what police officers learn. Why do u always see an officer at a sit down fast food place facing the doors, not with his back to them.I am glad you didn't get jacked to see a point,so many of us have not been that lucky.

That was my thought. That's why God created concealed
carry permits.

Very true. I try to make it a habit to see what is around me now.

Concealed Weapon permit in the process.

I'm self-employed and I do work in some odd neighborhoods.

Urban myth or not, it's still something to keep in mind. Props to the op for being smart and just driving off.

The carry and conceal is a good, and bad thing to have.I have had mine for 7years (expire date is 5years then you have to renew it,and take a second class)it takes 1.5 seconds for a man to cover 21 feet(running) at you,and it takes 2.1 seconds to draw from the concealment area,95% of all gun fights happen with in 21 feet.So with that said if you do have to use it,and kill that person the family of said attacker has the right to sue you in civil court.I absolutely love my car but if I used it to stop a person from stealing my car I might be going to jail, the law is not so clear on this.If someone say had a blunt object, knife and you thought your life was in danger then you could use deadly force you will still spend some nights in jail.just be careful, the law for protecting our car is little to none, the house is where are protection is at,not as good as Texas but pretty good. With all that being said I think the cc permit is a great idea just be careful,no car is worth killing for or jail time or death even the Z.

This is nonsense! First of all, if you are going to be in a situation, why not carry the gun cautiously hidden and not totally concealed? Like in a jacket pocket? S&W's have hammerless 38's, so there really is no need to even pull it from the holster (if it is in your pocket). Use the better bullets and not the cheap bullets that you use for target practice.

Secondly, I am not going to stand at my car and decide whether or not the perp wants my car or is going to injure me. Any sign of a threat, which by law at that time you may defend yourself, he/she is done. I'm not sure what kind of laws you have in Minnesota, but in Pennsylvania we HAVE the right to defend ourselves (at home or outside of the home).
