Some minor problems:
1. auto changing to AC on (its 20 degree outside I dont need ac on)

2. auto changing to temp/icy display when outside temp is <38 F ( its annoy it changes to temp display after 5 mins of driving telling u its icy when its 20F outside)

3. headlights still cracking

4. tires still feathering (2500 miles I can feel them with my finger already altho no noise yet, just got another alignment done and steering wheel still not straight)

5. bouce problem

I have the bounce and pull to the right. Bouce IMO is not really a problem, and will be fixed with my s tuned suspension when I get it so I am not worried about that.

Why arnt you haveing them do the TSB to fix the pulling right?? Do not just get an allignment. My dealer is going to replace a control arm and another piece that is suppose to eliminate the pulling to the right problem compleatly. And they are doing this with no problems.

I get my scedual for work today ( yes I am young, so I have a job where my scedual fluctuates ), and I will make an appointment to have the parts replaced AND get an alignment today or tomorrow. Then I will post in another thread what the results are. If it is fixed, then that would mean the ONLY problem with my 04 Z would be gone and the Z will be perfect.

I think people should distinguish between "problems" that are NOT defects and just simply by design vs. real problems (defects, "problems" that a non-defective Z wouldn't exhibit). I think the spirit of this thread was to list defects.

#1 sounds like it's by design. It seems like in certain climate control modes, like defrost, the AC comes on automatically. Makes sense since you want the AC to dehumidfy the interior to keep the windows from fogging up.

#2 sounds also by design. If the temp indicator started out above 38F, and then after settles under 38, at the point when it hits 37, it's supposed to switch to the temp display and indicate ICY. See page 2-8 of your manual.

#5. My Z is bouncy too. I don't know that it's a defect since I've ridden in my coworker's 03 Z and it's just as bouncy. I bet if you rode in every 04 350Z w/your trim level, it'd be just as bouncy. Defective? I don't think so.

I think that all other 04 Zs would also exhibit #1 and #2.

I don't know what he's talking about, #1 and 2.

The bounce, he is not talking baout it being a bouncy ride, I believe he is speaking of the wheel hop you get when launching. If not then I don't know. I do not consider my 04 to have a bouncy ride..

1. Its a bad design when its 0 degree outside and dry like desert and its still turns AC on.

2. Its another bad design when its 0 degree outside and I need to know its icy? lol

5. Its a problem with the suspension on all the z out there when u drive over certain kind of road at 60+ mph the car will bouce up and down like a roller coaster. Thats why ppl are changing shocks and springs because the stock ones dont match up right.

my 04 has 1500 miles on it now.
i agree with the bouncing issue. at about 50 mph, over certain roads (usually segmented cement, like that of freeway overpasses), the car will amplify the bounces in the road and be very bouncy. this is not a defect, but a design flaw. the bounce rate is just right to hit the resonance frequency of the stock springs. i'm sure the new 04.5 suspension will fix these. for the rest of us, i guess we'll just have to drive faster. all in all, not a big deal, as far as i'm concerned.

my shifter is getting more notchy, as others have mentioned before. i'm not sure if this is just because the weather has gotten colder, but first to second is pretty rough now, and 5th is starting to give me trouble too. it's not as smooth as it used to be even when the car is warm.

I have a 03 and my tranny issues are as follows: (9,800 miles)
2nd: Grind sometimes when you shift to close to the red line
3rd: Grinds often unless you hold the clutch in a little longer then normal before shifting. (SUCKS)
5th: Some times 5th is a little tough to get in to.

I have been debating if I should trade my 03 in on an 04 or just get my tranny fixed under warranty? If the tranny issues are still there I guess I should just get mine fixed right? I just really do not want a dealership messing up my car... ahhhh what to do?

I notice it is kinda hard to shift from 1st gear to 2nd gear. It's not as smooth as from 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th.....etc. I need to give more force to put it in 2nd. Is that normal? Does anyone else experience that?

I definitely noticed the same thing. At first I attributed it to my poor MT driving skills, but from reading other threads on here it appears to be normal.

They are thermostat controlled and cycle on & off.

Bose sounds good now? Your gonna need those heated seats working right cuz hell just froze over!

Ya. That's normal for the car.

Happens when the cord gets in the way. Common. Make sure it's out of the way when you shut it. Problem will go away.
