What'd you do if another "sport" car pull next to you @ stop light?

Jmanz, good job. That forum member has posted some rather rude and naive comments before. Although i wasn't able to read his whole post I'm glad action was taken.

Cool

I hope the temporary suspension of one member this morning did not discourage other members from constructive and fun discussion on this topic. Just keep it courteous and no flaming. After all, we all order the Z to have some fun on the road, not just go from point A to point B. Any econobox can do that.

Well JmanZ,

Everytime I go to the movies you stir the pot again. I guess some people never learn. Such behavior makes one less tolerant the next time it appears. We both have better things to do than address assclowns. But, as I have said before, someone has to do it.

Later...

idk, maybe i shouldnt even be saying this not knowing the exact stats of the Z...just an opinion i guess...what do u think my Z fans??...

If the Z is as fast or faster then an ss, that would be soo sweet.

opinions?
I agree with you on the Camaro SS & 'Vette. I don't think the 350Z will beat them in a straight line, but:
A) It'd be fun to try!
B) How about the twisties? The exact race wasn't specificied. An appropriate twisty road with a 'Vette would be a darn interesting race, and against an 'SS? I think the Z has a great chance to toast it!

Nissan has said its all about the handling, and I'm waitin' to handle my Z!

hey Brian..i agree.
but the thing is..when u r driving down the road, and u pull up to a red light..what are the chances that the road is gonna be all twisted when u take off? very slim, unless u r on a track.

thats the crappy part, the fact that the Z is capable of winning, but the fact of the matter is, most roads are more straight.

I guess we will never know until we get in our Z's and punch it..
i am not the speed type of guy, but, when an SS pulls up next to me, i will give it a try.. (since there are a million little punks that drive them around here, and are always looking to race someone)

cant wait to see the Silverstone pics!!

I'm one of those people that LazyZ was talking about last week - I don't plan to race or modify my Z. Regardless what car pulls up next to me at the light, my plan is to look over, smile, and enjoy the fact that the person sitting behind the wheel of that other car wishes they were me.

Nothing. Just let them rev at you if ever.

Racing should be done only in their appropriate venues: drag strip, road racing circuit and/or autocross events.

Specially if a non-Stook Honda revs at you. They're just an unnecessary risk and a waste of gas.

I would say that racing a modified car is out of the question, just stock for stock. You can mod a car to do just about anything, so opening up the whole race-a-modified-car can-of-worms is speculation with not even the vaguest hope a concrete answer.

In a straight-line all those V8s you mention will smoke a stock Z. But how about a stock Camaro SS and a stock 350z on a twisty road?

Yeah, someone else mentioned that too, and it is a logical assumption that the red-light is the "christmas-tree" of a drag-race.

I would say the 350Z has a chance to keep up with some traditionally fast straight-line muscle cars. How about a Camaro Z28? My C&D lists 0-60 as 5.2 seconds: the same as JmanZ is predicting for the Z!!! What if the Z28 has an automatic transmission and the Z a stick? The Z could smoke the Z28!!!

From C&D
Ford Mustang GT 6.0 seconds
Audi TT 6.2
Honda s2000 5.8
Lexus IS300 7.2
Lexus SC430 6.6
Porsche 911 Carrera 5.5
Porsche Boxter S 5.3
etc.

I know speed tests are somewhat subjective, but back in my Mustang 5.0 days I beat MANY Corvettes.

Like I said on in another post: the driver plays a huge part in the speed equation!

i know the Z is supposed to be all that in handling, but like i mentioned before, how many times are you gonna run into a road that is all twisted to death? slim chance...so, when we talk about racing other cars, i think we should stick to talking about straight line racing, since that is the way the majority of the roads are built these days. But, again, if we were on the track, i know the Z would beat the SS with no problem.

now. the question is:
does the Z have a chance against the SS/Z28 in a straight line?
and if it does, how long will it be until the Z falls behind because of a lack of hp? or will not fall behind??

those are just some ?'s that i find wondering in my head sometimes...i would like to hear what u guys think, once again..lol.

but, i know the true answer that really counts wont be able to be given out till we actaully pull up next to an ss on the road and race it.

R*Rocket:

if the Z runs 0-60 in 5.2, then why wouldnt the Z hang with an SS/Z28?

i can understand if it wont keep up after 60 mph because of the lack of HP, but from 0-60, i dont see why it wouldnt (this is based on the prediction that the Z will run 0-60 in 5.2) can you explain your thoughts?

0-60 is actually the best kind of race, IMO that is.. how many times did u pull up to a light, and after 150 feet or so from the light, the lane merges to one lane. that kinda sh** happens constantly, with me atleast..so yes, 0-60 is a race, a race that gets you a damn good thrill too when you win..

and if you dont want to call it a "0-60" race, u dont have to, but i couldnt think of anything else..but u know what i mean, the short races when 0-60 is important...

now back on topic...from 0-60..what do u think Rocket?
