What'd you do if another "sport" car pull next to you @ stop light?
Touring: When you say "Dodge R/T Turbo, are you talking about the Stealth R/T Twin Turbo? IF so, I don't know all the numbers but mine (92) has 300 HP and I do 0-60 in about 5.4-5.5.
Dr. Bonz...I think he means the new neon SR/T 4 turbo. R*Rocket said that this car will beat a 350Z anytime.
The new Neon is from Dodge's Performance Vehcile Operations. PVO. There target market are the Ford Focus SVT, Civic SI, any high performance compact. Here's a picture of the neon...

Should we nominate the auto racing to IOC, including 1/8, 1/4 mile and other longer distance?

Anyways, I've had small-lbock domestic V8s, and certainly the handling can be quite commendable, particularly Corvettes, which are stellar in their skid-pad G ratings (where's them fish when you need them). But I would assert that a stock "muscle-car" does not handle better than a stock "sports-car." I've had both, and experience indicates that the sports-car exists for a reason: because it can handle.
If it couldn't, nobody would buy one.

More specifically: V8 TAs, Z28s, SS's, LT1s, LS1s, LS6s, etc..

I respect and value all opinions, R*rocket's included. I do agree with some and disagree with some. We are human, that's why we are different and think differently. R*rocket likes Dodge Neon R/T Turbo, god bless him.
I like 350Z.
We can leave it at that.
I think the act of "flame" is not belong to this forum. Did you see Jay's "This is the LAW of my350z.com" thread? It is rated 5 stars and reflected the make up and opinion of the members of this civilized forum.
R*rocket,
I started this thread. Your comments and opinions are always welcome.

Thanks!
That is exactly what I meant. After I saw all the discussions on SS, Neon R/T Turbo and GS400 besting the 350Z, I decided to do some home work last night to get some objective stat. information. I couldn't find the Neon R/T Turbo on the official Dodge web site, just the plain vanilla one. So I included in there for reference point and let others draw their own conclusion about what a turbo would add to the base Neon R/T 150hp 4 bangers. You did a better job of finding more info. about R/T Turbo. Any info. on HP and Torque? Thanks.
Dr. Bonz,
Hope that help clarify your question.

Sound like you've been having a lot of fun with the Stealth since '92, i.e. 300hp, 5.4-5.5. Your new Z will give you all those performance minus the turbo lag, plus a much better platform and handling.

Actually, I was thinking we could have runners race 0-30, or something like that!
Or maybe diving: "Last one in is a rotten egg!" and see who can dive into the pool the fastest....

I thought your car was a four-banger? Correct me if I'm wrong.
You want to talk little: my car has a V8 and its a 3.0 liter! What's up with some auto engineers?

Is this the engine in the 530, the first pair of V8 from BMW that went into 530, 540, 730, 740 a while ago. If I recalled correctly, BMW discontinue this small V8.

Hehe. But I'm sure you've got a fat power band and good torque in your 3.0L V8.
mmmm.....about the new SS's and WS6's bieng mid to high 13 second cars. about 80% of them are mid to low 13 second cars stock. and have had a few dip into the high high 12' (like 12.9999) that are stock down to the paper air filter. and as for 0-60? 4.9 ish is good stock. LT1's (which is what I have) are REALLY hard to find stock. stock are anywhere from 13.9-14.4 quarter. Mine however...is stock, so you can come and pick on me all you want
I'm not rying to start a flame war at all, just letting you know the facts. I personally can't wait till they come out. But stock for stock, it's gonna be a really tough race against an LS1. Also, a lot of the time, auto's in GM's are faster, because most people cannot drive stick well enough. They also have a really deep first gear, which helps too.

I also live in So Cal, but I'd be more worried about getting shot at, then the tickets or jail time. Just glancing over at a car next to you can be considered a challenge, more than a race challenge. Personally, I won't ever do green light race. If I do get the bug to really understand and utilize my car's performance capabilities, then I'm going to go to one of these schools that I've heard Jay and Ethan (and others) post about.
With that experience, I could possibly see myself racing someone I know.
Just a couple months ago, I exchanged rude hand gestures with another driver, and this wildebeast followed me around town for the next 20 minutes. Closing scene from Electra-Glide in Blue going through my mind. (Robert Blake reference...shame on me)
I understand that gangs probably don't tool around in race cars, but it's that first glance that would concern me.

If a race is in order, then race something close in potential. Ignore all Hondas (including S2000, it really aint that quick), all new Toyotas (Supras & Turbo MR2 are fair game), any Korean car, and ANY car with front-wheel-drive.
Maybe try: Z28, V8 Mustang, all Porsches (except 914, 916, 959, 917, etc.), Ferrari 308, 328 (ignore old ones like the 250 & new ones like the 560 etc.) BMW 330, 540, etc. All Jaguars.
Forget Lamborghinis, Vectors, Lolas & McLaren's.
But the number 1 car you GOTTA race is the 300ZX TT.

I've raced a friend in his 300ZX TT, and it was pretty much neck and neck, w/ my car getting a slight lead as the speeds got higher.
Also, if the Supra is a MKVI TT, you're wasting your time.
