Make mine 55 ! And some of you on this website act like your 12 with the low class insults and innuendos . Try to remember , " kids " this is suppose to be fun ! If it's not going to help someone , keep the negatives to yourself , it's a sign of maturity ........

The Solara is a nice car. It's not the most amazing performer, but it looks pretty good. It unfortunately has a reputation for being an older person's car, but then again, Toyota itself has gotten the rep of being an older person's car company.
I wish you could have seen the Acura TL anc CL. The CL is probably pretty similar to the Solara.
Nice choice, hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for the well wishes. I'll admit the Solara doesn't typically attract younger buyers, but I think this new styling might wake up some of those young puppies!
As far as the Acura is concerned, the TL is a cool car and probably out-performs the Solara. But I think the Solara is nicer looking. Plus the Acura dealership is too far from where I live and the TL was a bit more than I wanted to spend.
Z2k3,
I was just watching "Test Drive" on the Speed Channel. They tested the new 5 Series BMW. Wow! What a cool car. It still has that BWM look, but the new design is less boxy and Buicky looking. So now, when I get an extra 55K burning a hole in my pocket I'll know where to spend it. Of all car makers out there, I truly think vehicles made by BMW and Mercedes Benz are true driving machines. The Germans know how to make an automobile which makes the driving experience a work of art.
See ya...

After reading through, I have to say that the stuff ride won't be a problem for me - I currently have a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT and will be moving up to the 350Z in January-ish. But one of my complaints with the Tib is that there appears to be a new rattle everyday?
Do you all experience this problem in the Z? I had hoped that the car would be very well-built and would be free from such noises at least for a good amount of time. Am I wrong? Is this prevalent, even in the new '04 models?

Hey garygoon, dont flame us tired old geezers. Im 50 years old, continent, no erectile dysfunction, not edentulous, and would probably kick your butt at any physical or mental endeavor you choose.
I love my Z, stiff ride and all...age is only a number, sports car enthusiasm has no age limit!
Sorry for the flame, you had one coming.

i had a flame coming? i say the person (fotodad) who starts a thread complaining about a sports car having stiff suspension on a performance forum has THE FLAME coming. but what you're saying is that you needed to flame the flamer? i love it. but why stop there? lets flame you now. the flamer of the flamer of fotograndpa:
so i guess 50 years old or more is considered "a tired old man"? you suggested it not me. Or is it once your impotent or incontinent your a tired old man? What’s your definition of tired old man? I didn’t give a definition. However, you seem to think I was talking to you. So, like fotopop, you must be self conscience of your age also.
do we want to carry the flaming on? i can go on and on. just call me the vitality poster boy of flaming. look i just set you up for another flame.
of corse, i say this all with respect and in fun. dont take me too serious. well maybe a little. -peace

You obviously lied about your age to get your driver's license because you are clearly not old enough to be driving.
If I were you (and thankfully I'm not), garygoon, (no need to poke fun of that alias), I'd stop talking trash. Whether made in jest or sincerity, your comments were prejudicial. It's just that simple.

Congrats fotodad...I hope you enjoy your new Solara.
Six months ago, I was in your same situation....only reversed. I use to own a Solara but sold it to get a 350Z. The difference between the two vehicles is truly night and day.
The Solara is a car designed for freeway cruising and not meant to be road-carver. It has a super smooth ride, extremely comfortable seats, it's easy to get in and out of and a nice upright seating position. But once you hit that corner, oh man, hold on 'cause you're going body-roll like you wouldn't believe. You hear the Solara's 205/60-16s squelling away trying to give you what little traction the skinny all-season tires could muster. Did I mention there was a real lack of side bolstering? Better brace yourself because you're going to be sliding back and forth on the nice 8-way power perforated leather seats.
But when you're on that nice straight 4-lane interstate highway with the cruise control set to 75mph...it feels like a Lexus (beause it's basically a 2dr ES300). So quiet, so serene it's eerie...no road noise, no engine noise...nothing.
So what am I trying to say? Buy the car that's right for you. As someone who's in his early thirties, I realized that the Solara was completely the wrong car for me. Unfortunately it took me over 2 years to realize that.
I'm glad you came to your senses much sooner.
