Default the worst has happened

well friday night i was on the way to my friends house and wrecked. it had been raining all day and i was just driving just coming out of a turn and hit some oil in the road. sent me into a spin, hit a tree, spun agian and hit another tree. the whole front end of the z slid into a tree and thats what spun me around. im pretty sure its totaled. the front bumper was pushed back into the radiator and was completly flat. im missing it really bad. the highway patrol came out ( i dont know why it wasent on the highway) and they didnt write me a ticket but he said he had to give me the papers saying it was my fault because it was only me in the accident.

but i was wondering, i have State Farm insurance, are they going to give me the $8,000 dollars worth of parts i had on the car? i kept all the receipts incase something like this happened. i just wanted to konw if they were going to give me money for the car and the aftermarket parts, or just the car and i have to be out another $8,000. thanks for the help guys.

No the worst would have been that you were dead - at least you're OK!!! I know Progressive offers full mod reimbursement if you claim it - it costs so much extra per $1K but obviously you'd have to state that and pay for it up front. Not sure about State Farm. Glad you're OK!!!

Yeah with Allstate they have an option to cover mods which is similar. You have to pay a certain amount depending on how much money you have worth of mods. Sorry to hear about your Z man. I had that problem in the rain before when I was coming onto the freeway. I was only going about 32mph and my whole back end started to drift. Luckily since I wasn't going too fast I was able to get myself out of it. Glad that you're okay though.

I was going home on a cloudy day and before i knew it, it started to rain badly. I didn't want to take the highway and i wasn't far from home so i decide to drive locally. Taking the main roads i hit trafic and the rain was falling hard. Parked in traffic i notice the water started to rise and at the time i was completed stock but only had AEM cold air intake. I'm like the only lowest car on the road right now, in front of the traffic i notice that what is making the traffic is a flooded part of the road that everyone is driving by slowly, i see everyone going through with no problem, so i started going in slow as well and i totally forgot i had a cold air intake, as i going accelerating the cold air intake suck water in to the Intake manifold and them into the engine shutting my car off. Now i was the traffic and everyone started to go around me. Whe i open my door all the water went in to my interior and i started to push my car back by my self, nobody help and instead i've got people taking pictures at my z with there cell phones. After pushing my z back about 1 1/2 block into a parking lot, i've call my insurance and completely told them all that has happened to me. they ask me to tow the car to a nissan dealer.

When nissan dry all the parts and started my car, it vended to valves and they had to replace every part that got wet inside the engine plus a new set of valves, costing the insurance company a job of $5,000. I drove a rental for about a month

Sounds like you put a bit too much power on in the turn if the car spun, otherwise the front would have just slid out. It wasn't the oil, it was the excess throttle.

Read your policy. Unless it specifically states that you are covered for aftermarket parts, and you have been paying the premium for that, I think you are out of luck. There may be the opportunity to remove them, but that is iffy as well.

You drove into water that was deep enough to spill over into the car? Wow. It is going to hurt when future CarFaxes show a flood damaged car.

yea
if its been raining all day there isn't anything on the road but water. if you were gonna try and blame it on something other than yourself you should have at least said it was cause your tires were bald and you didn't know it

The roads are at their worst when it first starts to rain after a period of no rain. I've had my share of "oh sh*t" moments. Sorry about the car.

Glad that you are unharmed. Hitting trees is no fun. Guess you will have to read your policy about after market parts. Figure fifty cents on the dollar at best.

With State Farm you have to carry a rider on your insurance for mods. They will only consider everything as stock unless you have the rider. So for replacement/totaled cost you get the stock car value and no mods.

sounds to me like u didn't purchase the driver mod....

i had a crossfire that got hit in the front end but i was not at fault, the other lady was, i have progressive, but i was able to pull any parts off when it was at the towing garage if i replaced them with factory....so i basically stripped everything back off such as bolt ons and wheels, some things had to stay, and things that were aftermarket and were destroyed i was given money for

best I can tell you is to offer to buy the car from the insurance if they total it, and take your surviving parts off, and part out the rest. it's a pain, but it's the only way you'll get $ back on those parts unless you had them already covered. bu you would know that, if you did.

Glad to see you're ok. The CHP came out because it's their job. They don't just patrol the highways, hence their name; they can assist anyone who has been in a vehicle accident, or has violated any vehicle code. The local police won't come, they deal with wife beaters
