Just tell them 16.5 OTD or you walk. If they say no, you WILL be able to find a comparable Z for that price. No use spending more than what the car is worth just because the dealer is firm. If he won't sell it, it's his loss, not yours. There's plenty a good Z to be had.

Its the same sob story everythime from the dealer.....Your car is crap and ours is gold!!! They are going to try and hold firm because they just brought the car in from auction and its new to inventory. Are you trading anything in that would involve negative equity that has to be buried in the deal??? This has a big effect on who holds the cards, if not..............$16,500 OTD or find you another Z. If they know you are pre-approved and a done deal then chances are they will be calling shortly after you walk. Hold strong and make THEM work for YOUR business.

Some places to look are cars.com and ebay

I found my z on ebay and ended up getting it lower than the actual listing price once I went to meet the guy in person. He only charged me what he owed on it. Which was the truth because we went to his bank and they told him thats what he owed. 14,200 for an 03 touring silverstone burnt orange leather in good shape with around 50k miles.

You could get something with less miles for less. Tbh I stay away from dealerships and would much rather buy a car used from an individual. Most people are afraid of that though because they feel that they are safe with a dealership with warranties etc, but a used car is a used car and the dealership really doesn't know how the previous owner has driven the car etc.

Those fart can's on the back aren't that attractive imo. They're prolly really loud but if that's what you're after then great, but about the whole "its got 3-5k in mods" First of all I doubt that but second of all it doesn't raise the book value of the car, don't let them talk you into that.

My opinion, not worth it...Ask 1k or so less imo.

^ +1 very good catch. They are ripping you off. That is a base model z. It will not have traction control either. And those are axis shine wheels which imo is not any reason to raise the price. It also has what looks like a top speed exhaust or some kind of clone which imo should reduce the value of the car. I would stay away from shady people like this. Just my .02 though.

I would do what has been stated above.Be firm, right now its' a buyer's market not seller's.If he is not willing to deal WALK away leave your phone number with him, he will call you back later in the week with a deal. not to many people are buying them right now in this economy.

its a base, don't pay that much for it, I would never buy a base, but you should definitely not pay THAT much for a base.

15k for an 06? its not an 04 or 05. So your basically saying you can get an 04 for like 12k.

that is really ridiculous and out of line

Heres what you do, Make a firm offer of what you are willing to pay for the car and then don't negotiate with a salesman. Talk to the sales manager and let know what want, leave a contact number and then go home. Its all about money to them and they really don't care about you. Offer them $15,500 and be firm

Thanks for everyone's advice. I'm in no hurry to get a Z, I can hold off a few weeks to get a better deal.

Yes, you can get an 04 for 12k. The z's prices are dropping like flies. OP (Mox27), DON'T BUY THAT CAR! Take it from me(I was uneducated when I bought my Z and ended up regretting buying the one I chose). First off, figure out what you want to spend. From the looks of it 17 to 18k seems to be in your ballpark. I know it's your money, but I would seriously look for 07's and above. They have the HR engine which is good for a few more ponies and most importantly, you'll have a warranty. I'm pretty sure if you look hard enough you can find an nice low mileage 07 (hell, maybe even an 08) for 20k. Good luck.

Save some pennies, and buy an HR. I bought my enthusiast '04 RIGHT before the economic shitfest, and I regret everyday not buying an HR. There's no way I could sell mine for one though, at this point, so I'll just deal with being upside in a car! lol.
