Question Employee Discount?

Hi All,

My brother in-law works for nissan, and was telling me he can get me any nissan for 2% under invoice. He said he was allowed 2 cars/per year that could be purchased by friends. He has some sort of form that needs to be filled out, with his employee number. Does this sound legitimate? He also said immediate family can get 5% under invoice. Anyone ever heard of this?

However, he was not sure if these deals only apply to dealer stock. He was thinking the one could be ordered, but was not sure. Regardless, I wonder how much bs a person would have to hear at the dealer when attempting to do this type of deal.

TIA,
Paul

i've heard of this before. a coworkers aunt works for ford and he was thinking about getting a new car. i guess there was a family discount price (there was some code word for it) and the dealer just needed the right paper work to give it to him.

Its not BS, its called the Friends and Family Vehicle Purchase Plan (VPP). Check out this website: http://insidenissan.com/

The most difficult part is finding a dealer in your area that will give you this deal on the Z since it is a voluntary program. Do some research, the end result is well worth the trouble.

The dealer can lose their ability to sell Nissan product if they deny you the plan.

I just ordered an '04 track model under the VPP program. Talk to the fleet manager and he should be able to get you taken care of without trouble.

Thanks for all of the helpful advice! I will be sure to talk to the fleet manager.

Does anyone know VPP applies to in stock cars only, or can they also be ordered under the program? While searching old messages, it looked like the Z was not available for VPP...guess that has changed now...correct?

About a month ago I called and they didn't have the plan for the Z or 04 Maxima. I was surprised to see someone say they could get it. I ended up getting a 03 for less than the plan anyways but was going for 04... oh well.
Good luck.

The car can be ordered under the program so it doesn't have to be in stock. You shouldn't need the VPP number at the time of ordering, only purchase.

The only restricted '04 Z is the roadster, but I just asked about the family/friends program so the business associates plan could be different.

Cool. Thanks for the info.

BTW, after reading the insidenissan site, sounds like the VPP program for friends is INVOICE + 2.5%...does that sound right? My brother in law thought is was INVOICE - 2%....just wanted another opinion before calling around to dealers.

The 2.5% is correct, but that is applied to a discounted invoice. Here is my track price.

Invoice less destination = 32,038
Less Invoice Discount of 4.2% = 1,346
Plus Dealer fee of 2.5% = 767
Plus any marketing fees = should be zero since the invoices this year now reflect them ($499)
Plus destination = 540
Total price = 31,999

The regular invoice is 32,578 and the MSRP is 35,660 so I should be getting it for 579 below invoice. The VPP prgram also supposedly gives you better financing rates and discounts on extended warranties.

Wow, that is a fantastic price. I'm planning to get a track model the same way, but I'm planning to lease the car for 3 years through a third party (since NNA doesn't have lease plans for the Z). If I can get a similar price as yours for a fully loaded track Z with nav and all other options, my monthly payments should only be around $380 to $410 with a $4000 trade-in and a $1000 down payment.

Is the invoice discount of 4.2% the same anywhere in the USA?

Since you stated that it's your brother-in-law, I believe you are actually elgible under the "B" portion of the VPP program.

Therefore, you can get ANY Nissan or Inifiniti using VPP.

Here are the quotes about the 350Z from the website:

Nissan 350Z is available for VPP Purchases to NNA employees, immediate family, and extended family & friends.

2004 Nissan 350Z Roadster will only be eligible to A and B Plan at launch

The 4.2% is a nationwide discount.
