Default G35 and 350Z Questions

Hey guys,

So been looking around the forums, doing tons of searches and reading up on other peoeples ideas, suggestions and more. So I have a couple of questions. If I will give you guys a overview of my situation, I am in the market for a 350z or a G35 coupe, having a lot of trouble weighing them both since they are both great cars, 1 is more Luxary, and the other is more sporty, and I love both. On me, I will be using it as a everyday car, I don't drive much everyday, maybe a max of 40 miles a day if that. I love the tight feeling of the 350Z but I also love the smoothness of the G35. Also the years that I am looking at are 2005-2006 350Z and G35's. Here are some questions.

1. My friend told me that the G35 has directional tires, meaning they can't be rotated, can someone please go into deepth more about this directional tires. Is it actually the type of tire, is it the actually suspension or something mechanical on the car? Also he said that some can't be rotated because the fronts are 18's and backs are 19's which make a lot of sense of course. He said also that due to this you have to replace the tires more often, is that true, if so how much is everything and how often?

2. Both take Prem. Gas correct? The dealer I went to said that you can put regular gas in the G35 which sounded off.

3. Are there any other major differences besides the space and overall mechanical parts from the 350z over the G35, I know there are interior stuff like leather and blah blah blah, I am more worried about the important stuff that could go wrong.

4. The only thing holding me back from the 350Z is the space, can you really fit enough in it? I had a 3000GT VR-4 before and it had about the same, maybe a little bigger surface area trunk, not deeper, and also had a back seat. Never drive more then 1 other person in my car so I only ever used my back seat as storage. Can I get a nice suit case in there or maybe some way I can make more space. Any suggestions?

5. Which one will cost me more in the long run? Since I do intend on keeping the car for a long time?

6. The 350Z I am looking at has a DVD-rom drive for the Nagivation, I know the discs are 200 bucks, can you actually play a DVD-Movie in there for the passenger, no I am not stupid and watch one while I am driving, tempted...but not that dumb. I am not sure if there are the codecs and the software to use it as a dvd movie player, can you install the software to do it? Also where is the best place for the Navigation discs to buy?

So I personally like the 350Z more due to looks and ammenties, the one I am looking at has everything but a sun-roof...don't really care about that. But the only thing...which is the only thing is space, nothing else. Any suggestions? Comments?

Thanks again!

Greg

Oh sorry, I misread, I thought this was the questions part, didn't know it was questions about the forum/site. Is it possible to move it?

Generally you can not rotate because the rears are wider than the fronts. Some cars have 18/19 which would also prevent rotating. Tires last depending on how you drive and the type of tires you buy. Super sticky wear out sooner, all seasons last longer. If it snows you get winter tires and that saves the summers for a few months.

2. Both take Prem. Gas correct? The dealer I went to said that you can put regular gas in the G35 which sounded off.
You can run regular in both, but the computers are tuned for premium. You will sacrifice some performance as the ecu will pull timing sooner as knock is detected. During normal (NON WOT) driving you can almost run water in a car and it wont knock. Premium only matters at WOT near redline. I drove my 500hp Talon with 87 octane gas on the highway all the time. I never floored it to 28psi of boost obviously. At the track I pumped it out put in race gas and went 11's. So octane depends on what you are doing.

3. Are there any other major differences besides the space and overall mechanical parts from the 350z over the G35, I know there are interior stuff like leather and blah blah blah, I am more worried about the important stuff that could go wrong.
Basically the same. I get two sets of golf clubs into the 350z or two smaller travel bags. The G does have a big normal trunk vs a hatch with a huge bar in it.

4. The only thing holding me back from the 350Z is the space, can you really fit enough in it? You can't make space in the 350z. you can put a full sized luggage case in the front seat, smaller **** in the trunk. Like I said, two sets of golf clubs in the trunk just fit.

5. Which one will cost me more in the long run? Since I do intend on keeping the car for a long time?
Basically the same.

6. It's only a navigation system not a dvd player. It just happens to use DVD as the format for the discs, that doesn't mean it plays a Movie formatted DVD. No way to alter it. Buy an AVIC D3 or similar deck if you want to watch moves. Search Avic in the Audio / Video forum. Get the discs on ebay.

So I personally like the 350Z more due to looks and ammenties, the one I am looking at has everything but a sun-roof...don't really care about that. But the only thing...which is the only thing is space, nothing else. Any suggestions? Comments?
There is no such thing as a sunroof on a 350z which is why it doesn't have one. The only sun roof you can get is a convertible. Otherwise a hardtop is solid.

This is up to personal taste. I myself have the 350z and love the way it looks. However, I find the g35 to have a more elegant look with the perks of backseats so I can have sex in it; unlike the 350z where I have to put my girl on the hood . But, since I already own the 350z, I opted with buying a Curt hitch receiver 11493 so that I can add a utility trailer or use a luggage rack.

LOL, yeah I agree with having to be in the passenger seat. In fact, when I did it, we ended up just straight leaving the door open. At that point we decided oh what the hell, and that's how i layed her on my hood and legs in the air . As for blow jobs... while driving lol... another story of it's own!

BJ is easy until you have to shift. That's when it becomes awkward. But to answer the op's answer. My best advice is if you need the extra space for luggage and space litterally then rock with the G. If you really don't care that you can't fit more than a bag of marshmallows and some bananas from the market then buy the Z. They both perform excellently. They both handle great. They both are light. Either way you can't go wrong.

Thats why you have to go for the cougars, because they dont live in their parents basements and have their own places that you can go back to.

For your info I bought my 350z cash (direct account to account transfer of funds) directly at the Nissan dealership when the 350z's first made it to the showroom floor; making me the original owner. So it's not a case of can I "afford" anything. It's just that at the time the girl I was with wanted sex all the time. I've owned many cars throughout my days and one of them made it on on the cover of Tuner mag for making over 500hp to the wheels like 10 years ago. I'm not gonna get into details about it but basically theres no need for the flaming about parents and hotels. If I was some teenager you can flame, and many of us would love to be a teenager again. My parents are old, and I"m not quite "young" as I wish I was either. I've already lived 1/3 of my life so lets not remind ourselves that we're only getting older.

Also, with how the economy is, we would all love to live with our old melting parents and not pay rent! Those were some good times, you all know it's true!!!! Spend every penny on toys and food and partying, not a care in the world!...

Now job, mortgage, bills.... responsibilities..... god damn. Luckily I have no kids... yet.......

You can be much more effective if you aren't in a back seat. If I was some teenager you can flame, and many of us would love to be a teenager again. Response to SSZVirginia:

Didn't mean to come off sensitive but I responded a bit defensive when you made reference to me as another kid living irresponsibly under the roof of his parents. It just sparked some bad memories since I did not have good relations with my parents and had moved out early in life. But no hard feelings, the topic is about 350z versus g35. Both great cars, very similar. Difference will more be dependent on personal preference after test driving both.

I know I like the body lines of the 350z more but find the backseats for passengers and the trunk space very practical. davidv put it best, just drive them both.
